I will never understand how people can give up an older pet. Unless of course the owner is ill or passed away, still you’d think someone could step up for them.

That was my first thought too, who spend 12 years with a kitty and gives her up? But you’re right, sometimes bad things can happen to the best people. I hope Kitty II will find a good home – I think it’s a cool name it sounds like the ship Queen Mary II :o)

My former shelter pulls mostly adult, senior and special need cats from the animal control kill shelter. We see seniors abandoned all the time, often just because the family doesn’t want to pay for vet bills, OR the human died and the family won’t help the kitty like sweet Miss Kitty who had been with her human Dad for over a year, he passed unexpectedly and none of his kids or friends would take Miss Kitty so she is back with my former shelter. One 90 year old gentleman was crying his eyes out when he had to surrender his 3 precious 13 year old kitties as he was going to a home and no family would care for them.
