5.12.12 U B Ugly!

12 May

I wish I knew why the Turkey Vultures are in my trees staring down at me?  They scare me.  They seem to settle in and just watch.  Is something dead in the yard that I do not know about?  Are they a message or a warning that I should heed?  I think these birds are really UUUUGGGLLLY!  Their large black bodies and red wrinkly faces are really ominous.  You can not go anywhere in Maryland with out seeing these large birds eating something on the side of the road.  They eat dead things (which is good I guess because they are a form of recycling), but they are impossible to get rid of and have been known to take over whole communities.  It may be hard to believe but Turkey and Black Vultures are federally protected by the US Fish and Wildlife Service Migratory Bird Treaty Act.  I guess that is only fair if their numbers are dwindling, but I still think they are creepy looking.

UGLY!!!!

Just another DogDaz morning at the zoo ❤

Well, I just have to giggle because I have a photo of a turkey vulture in my header shot here: http://azindylifeandbeyond.blogspot.com We have LOTS of turkey vultures in Indiana.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. I still laugh about a time hubby and I were floating on air rafts on a lake in Arizona, all nice and peaceful. I happened to look up and saw several buzzards circling above us. I shouted over to him, “Wave your arms around! There are buzzards overhead!” Freaked me out big time! We still get a good laugh over that.

They look a bit scary. We bet Sofie and Lulu have their eyes on them.
