Was so concerned about lil’ Sofie when I got home from lunch yesterday because she seemed to have trouble standing up. It seemed like she was really stiff and just did not have the ability to stay awake. So, off to the vet we went. Now, of course, I get the nice new young vet who tries really hard but does not have the years of experience behind her to have any idea what is going on. We checked for all the tick borne diseases like Lyme (which she is vaccinated against), Heartworm (which she takes a monthly prevention for), etc. and luckily all were negative. So we are treating her for an injury, maybe to her back or leg but she could not tell. Sofie seems to be dragging that back left leg a bit. If she has Corgi in her, and she might, they tend toward back trouble, I was told. All I can tell you is that she was crying a lot, constant whimper, and did not want to stand. So I started her on 1/4 tab of DuraMaxx (a NSAID for dogs) last night. She did not want to go out at all once we got home at 6PM, even to pee, but she came out of her cage this morning fine. I walked her on a lead instead of letting her free run to try and keep her safe from hurting herself. She seemed much better this morning, but I sent Lulu to doggie daycare anyway because Sofie is suppose to be on ‘cage rest’ and its impossible to keep them from roughhousing. Sofie was so lost all day without Lulu she was making me crazy; she’s not been with out Louise since I got her at 12 weeks old. Lulu, on the other hand, liked the ride alone in the car with me, but was confused when she got to daycare where her sister was. Daycare said she played fine with the other dogs but seemed to be always looking for Sofie. Well, it was quit a greeting at 5 when I brought Lulu home. Try and keep those two from running and jumping is like trying to stop a freight train. I will keep her on the DuraMaxx for a few days and then see how she does. I really really really do not like when anyone in the zoo is hurting or sick. It is so important to listen to their actions and work really hard to interpret what they are trying to say to us. I am pretty good at listening, but not so good at knowing how to fix the problem. Thank you all for your healing energy toward Sofie Bear, Keep it coming for the next week if you can until she is off the pain killers and 100%. Just another dogdaz day!
