6.12.12 Frienddogs

12 Jun

Mojo and Lulu were posing and panting on Breezy Point.  Mojo then proceeded to go into the sandbox and throw sand all over us.  Lulu and Mojo have a very special friendship.  He is the boy next door.  She adores him and mopes if she does not get to see him for a few days.  Funny how dogs build certain relationships that they hold dear.  Not that they shouldn’t, but I just think it is really sweet.  She has this friendship dog bond with 2 special dogs, Mojo Raising (male, black lab, 4 yrs old, next door) and Amy (yellow lab her age, around the corner).  I assume the bond is deeper because she became friends with them when she was a puppy and those friendships have been constant in her life.  Friendships are so important.  I think that dogs, especially fearful and shy one’s like Louise, need to be cultivated often and early.  In my quiet world, I think that I do not take her in public and into human and dog situations enough.  Not that you can make a dog that does not get along with others change it’s disposition (which isn’t our issue), but for a fearful dog like Lulu, it just teaches her that other dogs are ok, and then ultimately she makes peace in her head and relaxes enough to have fun.  She is fine in the dog park, but those are not friends.  Frienddogs are ones that you see your dog’s ears perk up when they come into view.  That your dog can sense walking past the house, even with all the windows and doors shut.  I am really glad that my dogs have frienddogs.  Does yours?

Just another DogDaz morning at the zoo ❤

I suppose dogs need a good friend the same as humans need special friends.
Your post was heartwarming to read about how Louise has two very special friends that light up her world.
Poppy, my shih-tzu, had a special friendship with my son’s dog Whisky, a Kelpie x Cattle Dog (Australian). Both female, and Whisky was four times bigger than Poppy, but she was always gentle and seemed to know that Poppy was much smaller than her. The difference in their size didn’t stop them playing together and being the best of friends.
    Beautiful post!

How sweet! Taylor has a neighborhood buddy named Chance, who’s a giant schnauzer. Taylor’s buddy is about 4 times as big as she is, but Taylor doesn’t care! They play so well together. She purposely stops in front of Chance’s house everyday during her walks to see if he’s home. 🙂

That is nice. Lulu does the same thing when we pass Amy’s house and I have to pull her to go on.

My best friend dog is Lila. She lives in my apartment complex. When she comes over with her mom, I am always happy. I even let her play with my toys.

    Love and licks,

I’m not exactly sure my dogs consider them friends or not. We do have a couple of dogs we sometimes walk with, but I’ll be truthful, Sampson’s ears perk up more for the humans than the dogs. 🙂

And mine perk up more for the dogs, so I absolutely understand. LOL
