We would like to introduce you to the newest member of the zoo, BEARnard.
Bearnard joined us on September 2. He fits in very well and is a sweet and rambunctious boy. The rescue he came through, WorthyDog.org, was awesome to work with.
So here is what we were told:
- Bear was turned in at a high-kill shelter in rural South Carolina in June. The people who turned him in with another dog, a puggly-looking thing, said they could not afford them anymore. He had never seen a vet; had not been neutered; had no birthdate or any other information. The shelter said he was terrified.
- The rescue transported him to Virginia and immediately got him shots and neutered.
- He was fostered by a nice couple who lived on the Virginia/West Virginia border with a bunch of Chihuahuas and 2 cats.
- The vet thinks he is about 2 or 3 years old and a Papillon mix,
- He weighs 15 lbs,
It appears that Bear, now BEARnard, was never really inside. He is only just learning that indoors is different especially when it comes to the bathroom.
He is a velcro dog and does not give Jolie much space between him and me. He wants always to be on me, next to me, near me, see me. (Don’t worry, Jojo is still getting a lot of Mommy cuddles.)
He is supposed to be V’s little dog, to fill the space where Mr. Charles was, but it does not currently appear to be working out that way.
We absolutely love him. He is funny and zoommy and is really putting Jolie (and me) through our paces. Jojo is used to old man Charles (who was 15 when he passed), so the age difference is big in terms of energy. Jolie is 7-1/2 and Bearnard is 2 or something. I think they will be great friends over time.
And you might wonder about the cats: Noel, the 16-1/2-year-old, basically told him the lay of the land the minute he came inside, but Mini Cooper (she’s 9 and usually so brave) is still trying to figure him out. He chases her (of course she runs and slinks), so she hid for the first week and 1/2 in the bedroom behind a rocking chair. Now it appears she is settling down and I actually think she will like him as much as she did Charles.
What a gift our new little man is. Welcome to your furever home, Bearnard.
Just another DogDaz morning at the zoo ❤

Welcome home, Bearnard! You are right where you belong. It was a broken road that brought you there, but the road ahead is perfect.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
