Why is this animal called a Red Panda when it is not a bear? The red panda, also called lesser panda, red bear-cat and red cat-bear, is a small arboreal mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China.  It is cute but I am not sure that it is cuddly.- DogDaz
