One second every day (well sometimes 2 seconds) in the life of the Dogdaz Zoo. From summer to winter in the bat of an eye. November was a very active month for humans, but not so much for the zoo: we just hung out in the leaves mostly.
Can you spot Thanksgiving dessert? (Hint: Gluten-free dairy-free apple crisp with Cashew Vanilla Ice Cream) Did you know that Mom also has a food blog called LoriansKitchen? If you are hungry, stop by.
Sofie Bear, my very complex bundle of anxiety, I love you to the ends of the earth and back. 10 years around the sun is a wonderful number of turns. You are a special girl and have taught me much. Keep finding that sunspot.
Sofie: Another beautiful afternoon sitting in the leaves. Big tree sure does drop a lot of them. Charles: Hey, Sofie. I smell some change in the air. Louise: Change? I don’t like change. I think I will hide here in this pile of leaves until it passes. Maybe I will come out on January 21st.
Sofie had her second worming last week for those very difficult hookworms. So far, so good for Ms. Soso. Her gut seems to be getting back to normal. Now we have to figure out what new arthritis medicine to get on, since her previous one, which we stopped because her gut was ripped apart by these hookworms, is really hard on the GI tract (Previcox). She limps a great deal. I don’t know if it is her front right shoulder or coming from her neck. I do have her on pain meds so hopefully that helps. I am also trying this new thing that Mojo’s Mom gave us that provides sound waves into the area and maybe gives some relief. Testing the gut this week and waiting for the Vet to tell us what they find. Paws crossed they are gone.
There seems to be something lately about us getting in Mom’s face. We get as up close as possible to her. We like to be really really near by.
We are not always sure that she appreciates our hot smelly breathe on her, especially when she is asleep. Do you get up close and personal with your humans?
I usually cover my bed with the horse blanket so that Noel does not shed all over my comforter (making nests of white fur which gets up my nose as I sleep). But she has only been lying on my pillows lately, so I was lazy and decided to only cover the top of the bed. As you can see, Noel wants to show me who the boss is. Meow Out Loud!!
You know when your animals are happy and when they are not. Louise was in the happiest of moods when I took this shot. She wanted something, of course, usually a treat. I love to see them smile. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Mom bought Charles this mat. It is called a LickiMat. She thought that it would keep him busy because he is constantly begging for more and more treats and never seems satisfied. He was not impressed at all. But I sure like the peanut butter that he left in the cracks. There are many different foods that you can put on the mat, peanut butter, of course, but also just wet dog food, or pumpkin, or even apple sauce or mashed veggies. So far, when Charles licks most of it off, he wants something more substantial, like a Busybone. Mom is going to try a bunch of different things to see which ones work best. Do you have any ideas?
She actually bought another mat just for me, but I am too busy with Charles. She read that it could help me stay calmer (fat chance with that!)- Sofie Bear
