Another great K8 cat capture, this time of Stella yawning. Stella is now living by herself in the cat room. It seems she was the cause of much upsetness for the other cats and for months the zoo was out of whack. She was beating up Noel and shredding Mini, and eventually we figured out that it was her that was peeing on our bed. She even started fighting with Nine. Once we gave her her own little world, everything got better for everyone. She is very happy to be in her private space and the other cats have calmed down (a Feliway mister is helping too). I have never seen her so happy. Cats are such territorial animals. Though I would like to believe that multicat/animal households are fine, most cats would probably prefer their own space. Actually, I think they are loners at heart and we make them community creatures by forcing them to exist in our world together (how human-centric of me!). Stella is doing great now that we figured out what was bothering her: she wants to be alone!
I want to give a shout out to Dr. Levitsky at Healing Paws, who helped us realize that the trouble was Stella and not Noel. We thought Noel, who was getting beat up, was the cat that maybe should be by herself, but it was actually the bully, Stella, not the bullied that needed the space.

Mini moved in on Nine sleeping in the pink cat bed in my office. He was not going to give up his spot, so she just plopped her little self down next to him. He actually adores her, everyone does (except Stella). May you have a wonderful Valentine’s day! Hope you are surrounded by love and furriness.

Nine has taken over the new dog bed in my office. As you can see he is surrounds by dog toys. Wait until Sofie sees him so close to her ‘Mellow Yellow,’ which is her daytime lovey. I find it so funny how the cats prefurrrr the dog beds and the dogs actually let them stay.

This was last year, but it is so cold today that we are all getting ready.
Noel has started sleeping on the heat register on the kitchen floor. That is a new place for her. Funny how it took her 7 years to discover it. She sure is glad she found it now. It is so cold and drafty in this house, you would think we live in a barn.

Mini Cooper – November 2014 – Ruling the Roost
When you are a kitten, especially at DogDazCats2 Zoo, you are the center of the world. Mini Cooper clearly owns the house and our hearts, This is, however, a little bit to the dismay of Noel and Stella. Nine, on the other hand, really is having fun playing with her (at last someone as crazy as him). I think Stella, who was the baby until now and is very shy, does not appreciate the intrusion of this little thing. You see, Stella is the one that is the most displaced in the house by the new arrival. Mini Cooper has taken over the kitten room, and Stella, though 3 years old, still liked to have her meals in there until now (“I want to eat alone,” she’d say).
So to try and keep peace at the Zoo, I made an agreement with Stella for her to take her meals in the bathtub in the downstairs bathroom. This is a special place, because now that it is cold outside, all the big outdoor plants are wintering over in the big bathtub: it is her personal little jungle. Sometimes Stella still runs down the hall at dinner time to the kitten room but then she realizes that is Mini’s space now and she proceeds to go downstairs to the bathroom jungle. My Baby Stella is growing up!

All the humans are wild over little Mini Cooper. Peanut had to rush home from college this weekend, not because she missed her Mommy, but because we had a new kitty at the Zoo. What am I, Chopped Liver? Still working on Mini meeting the rest of the Zoo. Sofie really likes her, Louise couldn’t care less. Dogs are easy. It is the 3 older cats that still have to get through the broader introduction to their new family member – this weekend hopefully. Baby Stella was not amused when she met her the other day by accident, hissing and arching. I guess Baby Stella will now be Big Sister Stella. Slow introductions. Sniff sniff sniff.

We are celebrating Noel’s 1/2 birthday, she is 7 1/2 years old. Happy Half, Baby!
The picture in the top right is the first day we rescued her. She was so sick with feline herpes that she could almost not open her eyes. We almost lost her. You have come a long way Baby, and we are so glad you did!
