A rare moment with Noel, Nine, and Mini Cooper all looking out the door probably at a squirrel or bird on the deck.
It is not often that these 3 do anything together, and definitely not cooperatively. According to my research, there may exist a very loose dominance hierarchy amongst a group of cats, but they do not form an interdependent hierarchy as dogs do. That means that they do not have a pack mentality, though they can gang together for survival, usually around food (hence feral cat colonies in the wild). The other interesting thing I learned today is that cats have relatively limited ability for complex visual signally, which we see in other animals that form social groups, because cats largely developed as solitary hunters, without the need for complex social interaction between each other. Not having this signally ability can lead to more fighting (basically they don’t understand what the other wants). It is all starting to make sense to me now…..

Mini Cooper: Noel, You should come up here and make Nine get out of the window.
Noel: Is there food in it for me? Does Nine have food?
Noel: Maybe there is food over there ……

These two crack me up. Mini never ever ever leaves Nine alone. Sometimes he gets tired of her. But other times, he is the instigator. Deep down I think he really loves the rumble.Watch in the video how he eggs her on.

Noel, the Christmas Cat, about a year old in this photo, and baby Constance Kitty, maybe 6 months, amazed by a bird or a bug out the window. Connie passed over the bridge at about 5 years old. Noel, as you know, is still staring out that window 11 years later.

It is 105 F degrees today (41 C).
Nine doesn’t understand that he would hate it outside.
So, he is giving me that look.
You know the one.
The look that says, “how come you and the dogs can go outside but we cats have to stay indoors all the time.”
I hate when they give me ‘that look.’
Sorry lil’ boy, it is for your own good.

We bought Nine a new bed. Yes, real mancats do like pink. But Mini Cooper will not leave him alone. He is not amused.

V created a cat gym in the living room. Noel and Mini Cooper were having a grand time. When we adopted Noel she was so sick and did not know how to play even with the simplest cat toys. Time is a wonderful healer.

Noel and Mini Cooper were sunning in the herb window. First I noticed that Mini was sitting on Nono’s tail. Then when I came back later, Noel had her leg resting up on Mini’s side. If these aren’t the goofiest snugglers.
