Miss Noel, the Christmas Cat, Queen of the Zoo, turns 15 on March 17. She is spry and happy and that is what we live for. Oh, and she is very demanding as you can see. Though she gets quiet when the camera is on.
Mommy turns 65 today. She is not spry and happy but she also is very demanding.
We made them a cake.
But we ate it before the party.

Mr. Nine crossed the rainbow bridge into the big meadow unexpectedly on March 10.
If it isn’t weird enough to have 1 pet with oral cancer (Louise has Canine Acanthomatous Ambleoblastoma which we have been dealing with for months), who would ever expect to have another pet with cancer at the same time? Though they are different oral cancers.
I did not know that oral cancer is the 4th most common cause of death in cats. Cats are stoic animals, and sadly, by the time Nine’s cancer, Feline Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma, was even discovered, it was too late to treat. His jaw had disintegrated and though we tried to treat the secondary infection for over a week, we knew that he needed to be out of pain before it got out of hand for him. The growth had doubled in only a week. He didn’t want to eat and he clearly was in discomfort.
We are all in shock. Poor little Mini Cooper is lost without him. She is crying and wandering all around looking for her buddy.
There is a large hole at the DogDaz_Cats2 Zoo and in our hearts. We are keeping a light burning while he makes his journey to the big meadow over the rainbow bridge.
The vet took his paw print and made a little stone for us.

Noel: Nine, I told you that she was busy and she wasn’t going to give you any treats.
Why don’t you listen to me? I know her every move. I have been here 15 years.
Nine: Listen, old lady, I know that you have been around the zoo fur a million years, but if I stay on the counter and look cute and starving, she will break down and give us something. You just watch!

Helping Mom work is a very important part of our cat job here at the DogDazCats2 Zoo. Somedays, well lately most days, I am helping Mom with her classes. Her students even ask for me by name if I don’t show up in the morning. In years to come people are going to look back at Mom’s teaching videos and wonder why there is always a cat named, Mini Cooper, on the desk. (BTW: Mom teaches adults not kids, so it is interesting to see how the grownups react to me assisting Mom to teach.)
Nine also has been known to show up and disrupt Mom’s day, especially when she is trying to take notes. He, unlike, Mini, is video camera shy and seems to disappear as soon as the little red light comes on.

P.S. On Monday (Valentine’s day), Mini decided to spill a completely full cup of coffee all over my desk, while I was teaching a class. Thanks Mini. Very helpful. I guess you want to be paid more.
