Toys. Dogs love toys. My dogs have so many toys that I have given them a toy box. I read that you are suppose to rotate toys, that way there are always some new toys for them to play with. I find that each dog has different favorites but they both always want the same toy at the same time. It is silly to buy two of the same thing, since they only want to play with one at a time. We have a lot of shredded soft toys. In our house a ‘Bobo’ stuffed dog toy usually lasts about 2 minutes before it is decapitated. It is funny but you will find many a disembodied cloth toy around our house (except Beaver, who is sacred and is not allowed to be shared). I am always looking for that ultimate dog toy. The toy that will keep them busy for a long time (like a rawhide) but does not disappear in one sitting (like a rawhide).
We have tons of Kongs with varies size openings which I stuff with peanut butter or cookies or (don’t yell at me) low fat whipped cream. Those treats last about 10 or 15 minutes if I am lucky. Also, my wonderdog Sofie, is very adept at pulling the stitching out of toys. She has figured out the secret to even make indestructible toys fall apart. Nothing holds up well when the center stitching is removed.
A lot of people have told me that they buy their dogs toys at places like the Dollar store, but I worry about what is actually in the cloth or the ball, and I do not find them to hold up very well to a 2 dog team. I thought that the ‘fire hose’ material toys were going to last, until Sofie removed the stitches. And then there are the balls. We have tennis balls everywhere. My dogs can eat cheap balls apart in a matter of minutes, but good, old fashion, yellow tennis balls, now those hold up really well. They can not even skin them unless they were left outside in the rain and snow for a month or so. Ahhhh, dog toys. What is your dog’s favorite? Which one do you find lasts forever (and is played with a lot)? Just another DogDaz morning at our house ❤

I’ve had two big dogs in a row; one a chow-chow, collie, Samoyed & German shepherd mix; and my current American Akita – and neither one ever, ever destroyed a toy! My Siamese, however, is a machine of destruction…
Neko’s favorite is a giant purple octopus with crinkly legs, squeakers in the feet, and a hilarious honk in its head. Can you tell it’s my favorite toy, too?

Great post! I have lots of soft toy body parts hidden around the house 🙂 My favorite is the walking donkey but he can’t walk anymore – only his head has survived! The ultimate toy? The little person is my ultimate toy 🙂 We play a lot together and have our own toy room – Mr. ‘Crazy’ Parrot used to live there but he he is not with us anymore 😦

A whole entire post about toys! I think I love you. dogdaz! Mom buys me new toys all the time. I used to chew them to pieces, but now I take good care of them, because all the chewed ones get thrown in the garbage! How rude! My toybox is shaped like a big dog bone. At the end of the day, when Mom puts away all the toys, and puts on the lid, I know it’s time for bed and no more playing till tomorrow. I love stuffed animals the best, but I also have some balls with rope on them, and some rubber squeaky toys. My very favorite toy is always the newest one.

Thanks for the love – Mom tends to clean up after we go to bed because we just follow her around and take them all out again,

I think what you said made a great deal of sense. However, think on this, suppose you wrote a catchier title? I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your blog, however what if you added something that makes people desire more? I mean 2.18.12 Dogs and their Toys dogdaz is a little vanilla. You ought to glance at Yahoo’s home page and see how they create article headlines to grab viewers to open the links. You might try adding a video or a pic or two to grab people interested about everything’ve got to say. In my opinion, it might bring your posts a little livelier.

Shirleen – Thanks for your comments. I really do not look to drive people to my blog as much as I blog for personal enjoyment. I am not a ‘writer’ nor an ‘advertiser,’ and don’t really care if the titles are ‘a little vanilla.’ I like vanilla personally. I am sure there are a lot lovelier and livelier blogs than DogDaz and maybe you might be able to help them improve their readership. Regards – DogDaz

My favorite toys are anything that squeaks. I usually treat them really nice for awhile until something gets me excited. Then I chew them to bits.

Mostly our dogs get Kong toys. They come in various varieties and are pretty indestructible around here.
