My dogs just seem to ‘wolf down’ their food. I worry that they are eating to fast and will get sick. Last night, I gave the girls their supper in these fun food toys. Lulu has a purple bottle. This is her second bottle. She broke the first one by throwing it down the stairs to get the food out (she is so smart). Now I have gotten smarter: I put the gate up so they can’t throw things down the stairs anymore. To get the food out, Louise has to pull the string just a certain way. I love to watch her pick the whole thing up and drop it down.
Sofie has a blue food cube. She has to roll the cube around just right for the food to come out. This cube ends up in some pretty strange places. It was lost for a month under the den couch. I looked everywhere, but somehow it got there.
This game slows their eating down a lot and also gives them about 30 minutes of play time. The only trouble is that when they were done with the bottle and the cube… they went to their bowls and wanted to know where dinner was!
Just another dogdaz morning at the zoo ❤

That is such a good idea. I need something to slow my cat, Barnaby down because he eats fast and he eats my food! 🙂

Basil – I bought it at the pet store. I am sure you can find it on line. – DogDaz

Well you have to find some way of keeping them out of trouble! It tires me out though coming up with new ways of keeping them entertained!

I am always searching for that self play toy or chew stick that will keep them busy for more then 5 minutes.

We feed raw so we can’t use the food toys, but sometimes I fill a toy with kibble just to keep Delilah busy!

Those feeding toys sound like fun. Mom bought me a slow-feeder-bowl. It has bumps in it, and I have to eat around them. It also has no rubber around the bottom, so it slides around and I have to chase it all over the kitchen. It slows me down, so I don’t vomit every day like I did when I first came here. I love food, no matter how it’s served!! Yum!
Love and licks,

We take our time to eat. Other canines say we are strange because of this.

We once had a Rott that always ate fast,
We just couldn’t get her to make her food last.
Into her dish we added a rock,
It added time to her dinner clock!!

Really – Did she chew the rock and keep spitting it out? or was she just trying to avoid it?

It was a pretty big rock, so she had to move it around to get to the kibble. Took her a while and she couldn’t gobble the food up in two bites. We had to take the rock out and wash it a couple of times a week, but that was not big deal. I do the same thing for my horses that eat their grain too fast. Works like a charm.
