Remember last week I had the dogs nails clipped at PetSmart and they cut the quick on Louise’s back black nail and it bleed. What I did not know is they did something wrong to Sofie too and her nail became loose. It became infected and $$$ vet later, she is now in the ‘cone of shame,’ with daily antibiotics.
All because I did not want to cut them myself because I was afraid of hurting them.
Mommy is sorry, Babies!!! I thought they knew what they were doing!

Oh no! What a bummer! Mom always wishes the Petco guy would cut my nails shorter. Now I am happy he doesn’t!! Don’t feel sad, Sofie. It’s not the cone of shame. On you, it’s the cone of cuteness.

Oh no!! Poor babies! Sending hugs and kisses. When I adopted my dog Ginger, when I picked her up from the vet after she was spayed, 2 of her paws were wrapped up. She had some black nails and some white ones and They had clipped some of the nails so short, there was quite a bit of blood and much pain for days. I was shocked a vet’s office could do so much damage. She was traumatized and terrified of having her nails cut the rest of her life. She would tuck her head under my upper arm and shake. 😔

I will only let my groomer cut them, she knows them and they know her and this never happened with her. Oh my.

Please get well soon- I had an infected nail last year and a surgery – that was very painful. I hope you have no pain and you can use your paw a little bit. I will send you a hug and all my best wishes to your paw :o)

The nail was broken and splintered at the worst position and I’ve got the whole nine yards, including general anesthetic, cauterisation and a cone. My staff got just a bill what deserved a pill (or two) LOL

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. There is a skill to trimming dogs nails and seems like your PetSmart might not yet have them fully developed! Poor Sofie!

Ma won’t cut mine either. We have a nice vet who will cut them so Ma doesn’t have to worry. I am so sorry that the person at PetSmart hurt Sofie. I hope she heals up right-quick!

That’s horrible! I’d definitely send an e-mail to their corporate offices. Despite the fact that they probably won’t admit it, it doesn’t hurt to have it lodged. This just sickens me.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, n i thot petsmart wud do a really good job. Dats wat i am always scared of too, to hurt pepsi while cutting her nails but then i am all eyes on the guy at the Vet’s while i make him cut her nails, holding pepsi in my arms

i know, next time ask them if u cud stay while they do the nails, i dunno if they allow it or not, but shud’nt really have any issue about it
