What is it about the shift from August to September that makes everything change? Does the universe know what a calendar is or that we flipped a page? It must because this morning was so crisp and so… fall like. The leaves are starting to fall into the pool, so sadly, it will be closed this weekend. Summer is over.
On the brighter side – I LOVE FALL!!!! I can smell the pumpkins and the wood in the fireplaces. I can feel the earth going to sleep, so that she can renew and restore and awaken in spring. I like wearing sweaters and taking long leaf falling walks with the puppies. I enjoy the turning of the leaves and the incredible colors and sites that they produce. Fall is home to me. Fall is comfort, like a bowl of good soup.
I am thankful for fall. What does the change of season mean to you?
(I know some of you are going into Spring right now, and that is OK too. BOL)

For 50 years fall was back-to-school for me – first as a student, then as a teacher. That back-to-school freshness and even the sound of the leaves in the breeze are unmistakable. You don’t need a calendar to know it’s time. Nowadays, it’s out to breakfast with my retired teacher friends and a walk in the park with Cupcake on the first day of school. I’m with you on the sweaters and soup. Mmmmm….

We love fall, but unfortunately, the heat and humidity are back again for the next week, we are ready for cooler temps.

What a wonderful post! I noticed it, too, the change, upon returning from my 2-weeks away in Portugal (post on that coming soon!). A slowing down, a fading, a turning inward. I love this time of year, too. A rest from the high energy of summer. A time for rejuvenation and transformation.

Fall is my mommy’s absolute favorite time of year. She calls it our “second spring.” Everything seems to come back to life after our miserably hot and humid summer. Exotic birds and butterflies pass through once again. The garden is renewed by the cooler temperatures and the less punishing sun. People come out of their houses and the world just seems more alive. It’s the best time of the year!

Fall always seems like a cozy time to me. It’s the time to break out the sweaters or light jackets and enjoy comforting foods and smells like apple pie and pumpkin treats. The weather is still enjoyable to take walks, go on hay rides with the kids, visit the apple orchard/pumpkin patch, and other outdoor activities. It’s winter that’s rough. 🙂 Hope your fall is enjoyable!

I love fall! It’s the season of my birthday, I can hunt all the leaves and it is the time of Halloween. When I put my nose in the air every morning I can smell the earth, the potatoes and the mushrooms ( and a mummified pigeon, but don’t tell it to my mom).

Summer is not over here. We don’t get any fall weather until October, as least. We actually have very hot summer for about 6 months and cool, with a couple of months colder weather the other 6 months. (This is southeast Texas, not too far from where Miss harperlee lives.)
