Though it is over 100 degrees today here in the mid-Atlantic, the days are getting shorter and the nights mostly cooler. The leaves from the big tree and the pines are starting to clog the pool skimmers, so Mom is thinking about closing the pool for the season. You can see how much help I give her when she is doing her early morning cleaning and chemical experiments. When to close the big blue pond is always a dilemma because it is so pretty to look at and it means that another season has come to an end. What do you think? Close or keep cleaning the leaves out?

You may not be helping, but you’re there for moral support. That’s important. The pool at our apartment closes on Labor Day, so the timing is just about right. When it becomes more work than fun, shut it down. That’s our vote.
