12.18.12 Playing Possum

image

We have a stuffed Possum who lives with the wintering outdoor plants in the bathtub,

image

The other morning, I found him checking out the shower, so I moved him back to his plant.

image

Then in the middle of the night, he was wondering the hall.

image

He found his way to the dog kennels.

image

Sofie did not like the intruder

image

Then this morning he was ‘playing possum’ in the hall (they really do this so that you think they are dead).

image

Nine was not talking. (Possum? What Possum?)

image

But, it was becoming very clear who was helping Possum make this journey around the house.

image

Watch Out, Noel! The Possum is coming to get you.

Monday’s Ural Owls

nationalgeographicmagazine: Ural Owls, Estonia Photograph by Sven ZačekShe looks sweet grooming her chick, but don’t mess with mom’s nest: Ural owls are aggressively territorial. “I’ve made an ‘agreement’ with the females that the price to band and measure one nestling is six hard punches on the head,” says Finnish ornithologist Pertti Saurola.
