It was great to see Noel at the front door the other day. When Noel was younger she would lie for hours by the front door. It was her domain (see the picture below from 2012). She rarely goes down the long staircase anymore to watch the world go by so when she does it is a very special occasion.
I was out to do something the other day and when I returned she was waiting for me. I must have had the dogs with me or she would not have been down there. The dogs usually hog the glass door and she won’t push her way through them. Sometimes it is nice when the cats get to rule!

The beauty of having feline dementia is that Noel rediscovers things she used to love. If you remember a month or so ago she rediscovered my office down the hall. She had not been in there for years. Now she rediscovered the cat tree. Even though the tree has been in the dining room in front of her eyes all this time, I have not seen her go on it for a very long time. The beauty of rediscovery with a forgetful brain.

You might not understand this situation, because you don’t live here, but this is one of the strangest pairings at the top of the steps that you will ever see. Noel is not a cat that sits with the other animals. Well, maybe she will sit with Mini Cooper in the herb window or on the kitchen table if it happens by accident. But sitting with a dog – that is out of the question! Well, until now.
I am sure that they both were wanting something from me, probably food, and it just happened spontaneously. What an odd couple these 2 make – I just love their expressions.

Dear Noel, My human tends to forget about keeping my kibble bowl filled to the brim at all times of the day the way I like it. She tends to give me a few kibbles here and there when she wants, not when I want. How do I get her to listen to my needs? – Please help – Frustrated in Philidelphia
Dear Frustrated, I get you! I have the same problem at my house. What I do is get in my human’s face and complain and complain until they have no alternative but to feed me again and again and again. I know that it is really hard to train them, but we must be consistent in our barrage of meows and destruction. Sooner or later they will learn. Best of luck. Noel, the Queen who knows all.

I sit in my recliner mostly these nights. Mini loves to sit on my lap. As a matter of fact, she requests a certain blanket on my lap so that she can be more comfortable.
Noel does not like to sit on anyone’s lap. However, she wants my attention. And, she wants all my attention on her. So she gets on the table next to the recliner and she paws at me constantly. She meows at me and then paws some more. She did once actually jump on my lap for a second to wake me up because I was not paying enough attention. But, it was only for a second. She did not stay.
Mini demands the lap. And this is why you cannot have more animals than you have hands. One for each.
Of course, there was that time when Jolie decided she also wanted my lap (usually she is on Louise’s bed on the floor sleeping or begging for food over by V).
Now that was interesting with 3 of them.
(Mini won, btw. Jolie left and Noel got confused so she ran down the hall to my office.)

It is hard to believe that we have only been with Jolie since July. She seems like such an integral part of the zoo. Every animal, even Stella, loves her. She is silly and loving and always hungry. I made her pictures mostly into cartoons for her bday. Happy 7th ‘Lil Bit. You make us all smile.
And what is the chance of having one love with a Valentine’s Day birthday? We have 2! Happy bday in heaven today, Mr. Nine. We miss you tons.
