The sweetest big girl in the pride turns 8 years young today. She is a champion sleeper, a great blog helper, and the Queen of the window ledge. No one enjoys meal time more than Noel, the Christmas Cat. From near death when rescued to purrfection now, we are so glad she is our Queen.

When Peanut was home from college last weekend, she got photo-graphic on all the animals. When you are raised with a pack and a pride, I am sure that a dorm room can be a lonely place.

Another great K8 cat capture, this time of Stella yawning. Stella is now living by herself in the cat room. It seems she was the cause of much upsetness for the other cats and for months the zoo was out of whack. She was beating up Noel and shredding Mini, and eventually we figured out that it was her that was peeing on our bed. She even started fighting with Nine. Once we gave her her own little world, everything got better for everyone. She is very happy to be in her private space and the other cats have calmed down (a Feliway mister is helping too). I have never seen her so happy. Cats are such territorial animals. Though I would like to believe that multicat/animal households are fine, most cats would probably prefer their own space. Actually, I think they are loners at heart and we make them community creatures by forcing them to exist in our world together (how human-centric of me!). Stella is doing great now that we figured out what was bothering her: she wants to be alone!
I want to give a shout out to Dr. Levitsky at Healing Paws, who helped us realize that the trouble was Stella and not Noel. We thought Noel, who was getting beat up, was the cat that maybe should be by herself, but it was actually the bully, Stella, not the bullied that needed the space.
I can not imagine a life without cats!

Mini moved in on Nine sleeping in the pink cat bed in my office. He was not going to give up his spot, so she just plopped her little self down next to him. He actually adores her, everyone does (except Stella). May you have a wonderful Valentine’s day! Hope you are surrounded by love and furriness.

Nine has taken over the new dog bed in my office. As you can see he is surrounds by dog toys. Wait until Sofie sees him so close to her ‘Mellow Yellow,’ which is her daytime lovey. I find it so funny how the cats prefurrrr the dog beds and the dogs actually let them stay.

At the zoo, if you get up, you are sure to lose your seat. In this case, Sofie lost her bed to the Mini Cooper. I am not sure that Louise was OK with the idea. She is usually the one sleeping on the small bed and Sofie on the big one, so I think Lulu is just going to stay put, so she doesn’t lose anymore ground to the tyrannical kitten. She also was making certain that Mini did not make any moves on her favorite duck, though I don’t think the dogs mind if she plays with the amputated pink flamingo leg that seems to move from room to room.
I can not imagine a life without cats!
