Monday Mischief: And Then She Was Home

Mom went into a very scary place with lots of Doctors and Nurses and was gone for what seemed like forever so that they could fix her back. 57 staples later she came home with a walker and cane and medicine and we needed to take care of her day and night while she learned how to not hurt so much.

Nurse Noel stayed by her side in bed all the time and sometimes she wasn’t so nice because she would make Mom get up and walk into other rooms or even feed her. Mostly, Noel lives on Mom’s bed anyway, so it wasn’t a big stretch for Noel, but it was nice for Mom to have a bed buddy.

Mini really liked that Mom was in bed too, so she and Noel made the decision to sit on Mom as much as possible and make it as hard as possible for her to change positions. Mom is doing much better now (6 weeks since surgery) and she is even picking up Mini (though she is not supposed to).

Nine, well he is a whole nother story that Mom will have to tell you. He wasn’t happy that she was no feeling well, so he decided to get sick too. But that is for another blog.

I would say that we cats did a really good job of taking care of her. No matter how sick a human is, they always need a cat.

Wonderful Wednesday: See You Soon

Mom is going to have major back surgery next week and she will be literally, laid up, for a while. Louise and Sofie are going to have a little winter vacation with Sonya, the dog whisperer, for a few weeks while she is recuperating. Mom is not sure when she will be able to start walking long distances again, or when she can take a chance with 55 and 70 lbs dogs pulling her on the end of the leads.

Charlie and the cats will keep her warm until the big dogs return. Hopefully, it all goes well and she will be back walking the big dogs and blogging again in no time.

Don’t go too far away. DogDaz will be back soon.

Monday Mischief: Hall Shot

Animals can be so funny, don’t you think? Charlie was waiting for V, who is in the bathroom which is the door to the right. So, Sofie and Nine decided to join him and wait too. I could not resist taking the shot. You would think that these goofballs actually like each other. What is it about a closed-door that makes animals want to knock it down?

DogDaz Zoo: Do What’s Right – MLK

“Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

Wonderful Wednesday: Sunrays 2017

How do they know how to find that one spot where the sun rays shine through? This came up on my memory page from 2017. I just love that girl!

Monday Mischief: Marshmallow Removal Tips

Yep. Someone, whose name I am pretty sure starts with an ‘S,’ got into something in V’s office when we were visiting Stella. I was not sure what it was at the time but I caught her eating a bag that looked like it must have contained some icing or something, at least that is what I thought.

But, alas, it must have been marshmallow* because later I found white sticky stuff on the rug and one of her stuffy toys. Well, now I know how to get marshmallows out of the carpet.

Simply rub a few ice cubes on the spot until the marshmallow gets hard. Then using a backside of a butter knife, scrape the frozen stuff until it comes away from the fibers. Repeat the freeze/scrape action until it is gone.

Mini thinks Sofie is just downright dumb!  And tonight she is dumb with a tummy ache (but she is fine).

*Marshmallows can be dangerous for pets. Not just because they are all sugar, but because they may contain Xylitol which can cause almost immediate liver damage.

Monday Mischief: DogDaz Year In Review

Another month has come and gone by quickly here at the DogDaz zoo. December is always a fun month because there are lots of celebrations, lights, and boxes. Everyone gets extra brushings, cats get extra wrapping paper, and dogs get extra cookies. But, then in a flash, it is gone. The first video below is our December review in 1-second clips every day.

When we look back we can see that the year 2020 was full of fun, fur, flowers, and catfights (at least from the Zoo’s perspective). Below is the DogDaz Year (Jan – Dec) in review video. Did you know that 12 months of 1 second a day clips come out to be about 8 minutes?

The animals did not mind that Mom had to wear a mask and they loved that she started to work from home full-time again. We are looking forward to a 2021 full of snow, sun, long walks, cardboard boxes, and lots of treats.

Happy New Year!

Wonderful Wednesday: Bring on the Roaring ’20s

This month marks 9 years that DogDaz has been on WordPress. It is incredible the blog friends that we have made. The moments we have shared together in cyberspace. The animals that have entered our lives and those that have left holes in our hearts.

Our wish for 2021 is to end this horrible human plague and to get back to a fuller, more active life. To hug the ones we love and to be able to hold them again. The Spanish Flu in 1918 ushered in the decade we called the roaring ’20s.

“In the Roaring Twenties, a surging economy created an era of mass consumerism, as Jazz-Age flappers flouted Prohibition laws and the Harlem Renaissance redefined arts and culture.”History.com

Maybe this plague will usher in a new roaring ’20s, with a surging economy again, but a focus on redefining civil justice and environmental urgency.

From our Zoo to yours, may you find health and happiness in the New Year and may you always be surrounded by fur, licks, love, and pet hair. Here is to a better tomorrow. Happy 2021!
