Caturday: Tortie-tude

10-15-16

Is a cat’s temperament determined by color? I have been reading some interesting studies. Mini Cooper says she is never ‘naughty!’ Does your color match your temperament?

Caturday: We are free to invent our lives; dogs, not so much…

(Note: This older post of mine popped up when I was reviewing some blogs and I thought it was very timely for me. Currently, I am out of work and the universe has not yet shown me what my next move is. I wrote this piece in 2012. Sometimes, I find it good to go back and check in with myself, it helps me remember who I am, which can be helpful.)

Miss Constance Kitty taking a nap

{Warning,,, for some reason I am feeling very philosophical today and not waxing very doggy…} If you really could come back as anything you wanted, if reincarnation was something that really happens, what would you be? I think that I would want to be an old person’s cat. I get to laze around all day with my person, get lots of treats, not have a lot of demands put on me, and sleep my requisite 20 out of 24 hours. But, alas, I do not know if that is possible. I realized long ago that I must invent my life here and now and not wait until the next life. So, I invented a life full of love and laughs and furry things. Even though I have to work to earn money (and usually I work about 12 to 16 hours per day), I am very lucky to have ‘invented’ or, at least ‘positioned,’ a job that allows me to be surrounded by my zoo on most days and work in an environment that is all my own (home). No one ever told me that I was free to invent my life (my parents would have thought this an utterly crazy conversation). Probably like most people, my younger life just sort of happened to me. I did not realize I was inventing my life for a long time, but then, the things I wanted, really really wanted, the things I prayed for, and lite candles for, started to materialize.

In today’s world there are ‘vision boards’ and ‘life plans,’ and there are even people who get paid to be your ‘life coach.’  Looking back (hindsight is always 20/20) I never had a picture but a feeling about my life. I just wanted to love and to be loved in return. I wanted a family around me and I wanted animals. I wanted meaningful work and to do good deeds. I never really visioned owning material things, that was just icing on the cake. No matter what your circumstance, I do want you to know that it is never too late to invent your life. To fill it, even if only for the shortest moment of the day, with your dreams and visions, and you will be surprised, how when you start to put out in the universe those things that you desire, in a positive way, they start to come back to you and your life starts changing toward the vision that you have asked for. (And that is how I ended up with 2 dogs and 5 cats, so make sure you realize what your inventing (hahahaha!))

One warning about this vision thing: I once asked the universe for some time off from work because I really was not having fun. I wasn’t very specific about it. Soon after putting that out in the universe, I broke my leg and had to take several weeks off. The clearer you are, the more likely you will get exactly the life you want. So I should have put out there: “please let me be healthy, on a beach, in the sun, having fun with my dogs and favorite humans by my side,”

I think you make your luck, you invent your life, and you make it happen every day. You have the freedom to invent your life – what are you inventing today?

Caturday: Snuggle Down with the Dog

11-19-16

You need to understand that Noel is not a real fan of the dogs. All of a sudden she has decided that she will cross the great divide of the living room, leaving her safe, dog gated out dining room, and sit on Sofie’s pillow. The amazing thing is she snuggled down while Louise was fast asleep right next to her. We were amazed. At first I thought she was going over there to cause trouble (like pee on the pillow or something), but, she sniffed and turn around and sat down. Sofie was not happy, came right over and started nibbling on the end of her pillow (basically freaking out that someone would dare take her spot though she rarely sits on her pillow these days), but NoNo did not flinch. Sofie left and Noel and Louise stayed together for a long time that night. Never underestimate the Zoo, that is fursure!

P.S. Yesterday I found her sleeping on Lulu’s brown pillow, but Lu didn’t know, so all was fine.

Caturday: 3-in-a-Box

3_in_a_box

img_5343-edited

Noel is not amused that Nine and Mini Cooper have discovered that Mommy puts an empty box on the dining room table for her. I wish that I could have caught a video last night when Noel was down low in the box, and the other 2 wanted to go in, not knowing she was there, and ‘POP’ she scared them both off the table (for a moment). They are just cracking us up.

Caturday: Who Dunnit?

10-8-16

This is what you call ‘Double trouble!’ Noel, the Christmas Cat, and Mini Cooper, clearly conspiring about something. Not often do you see 2 cats together at the Zoo without hearing a ‘crash, zip, bang’ after a few minutes. Many times it is a scheme to get Sofie in trouble (interesting that they rarely prank Louise). Usually it is Mini being the instigator. Noel is just an easy mark, and gets blamed for stuff, because she is a little slow on the uptake (if you know what I mean). The other cats know that she moves slow and can’t always figure things out. Do you think they take advantage sometime and set her up? Noel doesn’t care because as long as she gets Mom’s attention she is happy. And Mom is never negative with her because she really does not understand consequence, so what’s the point. With Noel, you just keep loving her and loving her and she is a joy. Mini Cooper, on the other hand, one of the smartest and cuddliest cats in the world, is a bundle of mischief and craziness. Nine usually is the one to scold her, so Mom doesn’t have to (thank goodness for older brothers).

Do your cats scheme against the dogs or each other?

Caturday: The Cat Gym

cat gym

The laundry room is definitely the cat gymnasium around here. And when they get thirsty, they stop in the sink and get a little sip from the leaky slop sink faucet. No wonder there is always cat hair on my clean wash.

Caturday: R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

9.17.16

Noel is the oldest feline at the Zoo (9 1/2). Mini Cooper is the youngest (2).

9.17.16 Two

There does not appear to be any respect for elders in the window today.

(I bet you are singing this song in your head right now, aren’t you?)

Caturday: I Love Paper!

9.10.16

Noel has this thing for shucking on paper. When you go to take a tissue from the box, or a napkin from the table, you may find the edges twirled with spit, or chewed off all together. At holiday time, we have to hide the wrapping paper.

Peanut says that if Noel were a person, she would have the disorder called: Pica. That is the persistent eating of substances such as dirt or paint that have no nutritional value. Actually, that may describe most of my animals, but Noel is really into paper.

Do your furries eat stuff like this?

Caturday: B A C O N !!!!

Noel 3.16.14

One of my all time favorite K8 shots of Noel. Hard to eat when you have 6 vultures waiting to pounce on whatever is on your plate. Sometimes I think the cats are worse than the dogs. The dogs understand ‘leave it!’ I haven’t been as successful training the cats.

I cannot imagine a life without cats!
