1.8.12 16:28: Coming Home

Waiting for Mommy to return

There is nothing like coming home after a few hours to 2 dogs who are overwhelmed to see you.  The feeling of love is so amazing that I would not trade it for anything.  The cats on the other hand are like, “Oh, it’s the human, so what?”  But the dogs, they are like. “It’s her, she is home, she is really here, she did not abandon us, yes, yes, yes, yes, pet me, pet me, pet me!”  That to me is priceless. Just another DogDaz afternoon at the zoo. ❤

Pet me

1.7.12 15:00: Tired dogs Are Happy Dogs

3 dogs and a frisbee

Today we went to the dog park, partly because it is unseasonable warm and great to be outdoors in January, and partly because I had a tooth pulled yesterday and did not feel like walking (because yesterday’s walk made it bleed a lot).  So off we go in the 2001 Ford Explorer, which I only use for dogs and hauling big things (I bought it off my stepson specifically for this purpose) (my regular car is a Prius Hybrid), up they jump (pretty much knowing we are going somewhere fun) and to the dog park we go.  Now on a lovely Saturday morning you know that the dog park is full to the brim of every imaginable dog.  Louise and Sofie ran along and had a great time only occasionally checking in to make sure that I am still somewhere around (of course Lulu checks about every 2 minutes, but today Sofie checked a few times too today (this to me is success)).  So, I am sitting in the sun on a nice chair when up jumps this Boston Terrier right in my lap (dirty paws and all).  Well, Sofie and Louise come running over to make sure that this interloper is not bothering Mommy and then off they went again.  Nice to know I am well protected by my pack.  We were at the park about an hour when some male boxer/pit mix starts messing with Sofie, which I could see was making Louise protective/anxious, so I got the leashes and decided it was time to go.  For some reason there always seems to be a spoiler at some point when we are at the park and the owners don’t see anything wrong with their dog’s aggressiveness.  Amazingly, Sofie was ready to go anyway, which was a relief.  They were like a different set of dogs walking back to the Ford then when we first arrived.  I only had them on their neck collars and leads and going they pull and pull and pull me to the park, but leaving, you would think I actual had trained dogs with how nice they walk.  Back in the Ford, back down the road, and right in the house.  TIRED DOGS ARE HAPPY DOGS, and now I can put away the outside holiday decorations without two crazies under foot.  Feels like someone socked me in the face, so maybe I should follow the dogs lead and take a nap instead though.  Just another DogDaz Saturday with my zoo. ❤

1.6.12 16:16

Animals are funny.  They make you laugh, even when you don’t want to, and they drive you crazy, usually when you need to be taking yourself less seriously.  Squash E Bear was a great one for making me laugh.  He used to love to roll on his back and tell jokes.  This big quiet guy, who never said much to anyone or anything, would start rolling and barking and just plain laugh out loud.

Squash Laughing

I used to ask him what he was talking about, but he would never really say.  He would just go on and on.

Sofie can be pretty funny.  Especially when you yell at her, she drops down and rolls on her back and tries to look cute.  The other day C found her asleep outside her kennel but under the door curtain.  Now that looks really funny, though I do not think she knew it.  Unlike Sqaush, right now we are laughing more AT her, not necessarily WITH her.

Sofie sleeping under the curtain

Louise is a pretty serious dog most of the time, but she has her funny moments too.  She was learning how to tell jokes from Squash before he left us for the great meadow in the sky, however, I am not sure she really got the hang of it.  She does crack me up though.  Like the time she was protecting me from the vacuum monster and feel asleep during the process.

Now Noel is hysterical.  You really are never sure where you will find her and what she is going to have to say. I really do not think NoNo knows that she is making me laugh, but I do find her in some pretty strange places.

Noel in the sink

Miss Constance Kitty is always in something, under something, or playing with something.  She sets the dogs up a lot and gets them in trouble by dropping things on the floor for them to eat or destroy.  Her name really should be ‘Mischief.’

Connie in a freshly washed and folded quilt

Muffy is the funniest of all.  Here he is in my pocketbook as I am unloading groceries on the table.  He does the funniest things and makes me laugh all the time.

Muffin in my purse

and who can forget cats of the past, like Gertrude (calico) and Cuddles (Russian Blue) looking out the backdoor with their friendly Gnome…..

Just another DogDaz afternoon at the Looney Bin. ❤

Versatile Blogger Award

Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you
How exciting it is to have received a Versatile Blogger Award from the incredible and beautiful Bassa and her human at http://bassasblog.wordpress.com/ .  Thank you so much Bassa for thinking of us and including us in your list of wonderful blogs.  This is the first award we have ever received and we are honored and humbled by it.  Bassa is this magnificent Caucasian Shepard who tends a 1 sheep herd. She was born in the famous nursery at St. George’s Monastery of Tabakini in the Republic of Georgia where Georgian Orthodox priests have been breeding Caucasian Shepherd dogs since 1992.  Go check out her stories. I enjoy just looking at her pictures because she is a beauty.

The rules of the award are as follows:

1. Thank and link to the person who awarded you.

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.

3. Pass the award on to as many as 15 more blogging friends.

4. Contact those friends and congratulate them!

Wow – 7 things about us (this is really hard):

1.  Louise’s nickname is Lulu Belle.  She is also know by ‘Lunny,’ ‘Lu,’ and ‘#1’  I also refer to her as the big girl.

2.  Sofie’s full name is Sofie Bear.  She is also know by ‘So,’ ‘SoSo,’ ‘Little Bit.’ and ‘#2.’  I also refer to her as the baby.

3. Louise has a boyfriend named Mojo Raising, He is a Black Lab champion dock diver.  They see each other almost everyday and get blue if they don’t.  Mojo lives across the street and Lulu stands on her hind legs and watches his house out the kitchen window for a really long time, hoping to catch a glimpse.

4. Sofie really really really wants to snuggle and lean on Louise but when she does, Lulu gets up and moves away (how sad or how big sisterish).

5. I like my dogs better than I like most people (I guess that is sad too.)

6. Louise looks good in almost any color (ah, black goes with everything) but Sofie looks best in purple.

7. Sofie’s favorite toy is her lovey, Beaver.  Beaver is her security blanket and she will dig it out of the bottom of the toy box (if it accidentally is in there) otherwise she can’t go to sleep.  She takes Beaver where ever she goes.

I have not been blogging very long, but in my short time I have come across some super cool blogs.  Here are a few really good blogs that I have been enjoying.  I hope you will check them out too.
