My toy
I think I am noticing a pattern with Louise. She likes to sleep on her toys,
This is mine!
She seems to always have her paw on something or it is under her, Sometimes, multiple toys are under her at the same time, Is this a ‘This is mine so leave it alone’ thing, or is it just that she feels secure touching something when she goes to sleep. I never had a dog that actually lied on the toys this way. I originally thought that it was to keep Sofie away from them (which it could be), but, as you can see in the first shot, she even likes to just stretch out and touch a toy and then fall asleep.
My Toy - Do Not Touch
This week Louise was really in love with this frog that I got at the grocery store for St. Patrick’s Day, but tonight Sofie got it from her and they ripped it in half. The usual stuffing everywhere, quick find the squeaker before they swallow it,,,, you know the drill kind of toy. Well it did last almost 3 days, which is kind of a record around here. It was funny because Lulu was squeaking the frog during business calls this week and I had to apologize to people because I did not want to stop her she was having so much fun. We did not even have him long enough for me to get him in a picture.
Mine, mine, mine
I do think that animals like to cuddle with their toys like we humans do (well some of us). Sofie always carries around Beaver (her lovey), so maybe, Lulu finds comfort in knowing that one of her many play things is near by.

I wonder if it has to do with her breed. My sister has a similar dog and she wines if someone takes one of her toys and is extremely attached to them as well:) I think it’s cute.

Jasmine is a golden retriever and she too love to sleep with her toys. She has a basket full of them and she is like a little kid and takes them out to put on her blanket to sleep with. Jasmine always needs something to touch like your foot when your sitting down and she touches it and goes to sleep. Her toys are her joy and when my son plays with her and tosses any toy she cries and retrieves it. Even when she wants a certain toy in her basket that she can not get she looks at the basket and cries. So I try to help her out but do not know which toy she wants then I just turn over the basket and let her pick it out. When I try to clean up the floor with all her toys to put back into the basket she comes running over trying to take them out of my hands. I think it may be the breed or just her toys are a comfort and joy for her. Maybe the same for your dog too. They both are cute.

Thanks for sharing. I find that Lulu goes through the toy bin until she finds exactly what she wants, and sometimes I toss it over also. I was thinking about teaching her to put them away. LOL

We sleep with our toys too!
Bella: I sleep with my squeaky sneaker near my face. I like to look at it as I doze off.
DiDi: I sleep with my plush duck in my mouth. I want to make sure he doesn’t go away.

Awww, what sweet photos!! Our babies love to sleep with their toys too— especially Harley who is always guarding them from the others 🙂
