Wordless Wednesday: We Slept Through It!

05 Jul

Yesterday was 4th of July and you know what that means – FIREWORKS! Not only was it going to be a stressful evening but when Mom was walking us to get us tired before dinner THUNDER rolled in. Mom was not sure how we were going to do this evening with all the rumbles from Mother Nature and the crackers used to honor our Forefathers (a double whammy). It didn’t start well because Louise didn’t want to eat all her dinner because of the thunder (though Sofie decided it was OK to finish it for her before Mom caught her).

Mom played nice smooth jazz music for us during the storm. It always helps distract us from the noise. She thinks it is more soothing than classical (which can get quite raucous). And after the storm, we played our evening games. She tried to take us out to potty before it got dark, but as soon as we got in the yard we heard pop pop pop and ran back inside.

Once it got dark, everyone was watching TV and it drowned out most of the crackers and, as you can see from the pictures, Louise and Sofie were able to snooze right through the ‘1812 Overture.’ I was a little concerned but managed to see myself through until I could go ‘night night’ in my downstairs kennel, with the curtain down, and the music up, and some extra treats.

We hope your celebration was quiet and peaceful and full of treats. – Charles, the Mugwump

Mine slept through most of it with an application of Canine Calm before the boom booms started.

Sounds like a good plan, Ann. Maybe next year I will try some calmer too, after all this worry I could use some.

Good job, kids! Turns out all that noise doesn’t hurt us after all. It’s just noise. I am never afraid of firecrackers. The dog in the mirror on the ceiling of the elevator in my building is another story. That guy freaks me out!!

    Love and licks,

You guys are lucky. It was really loud around here. We hope that’s the end of it, but something tells us that’s not the case. Hiss!

I never thought about playing Jazz music – will have to remember to do that next year. Surprisingly, our neighborhood was relatively quiet this year. #blessed

I found that classical can be too up and down, and easy listening is too sedate. Glad you were blessed this year.

Glad your mom figured out a way to help you survive all of the noise. Thankfully, Tippy isn’t afraid and we don’t live close enough to our neighbors for it to be a problem, even if she was afraid.

You are so lucky. Humans can be so noisy.
