The dogs were out on a play date the other day. Even the new little one who smells like a dog but plays like a cat. So I decided that Mom must be lonely in her office all by herself. At first I sneaked behind the computer and peaked out to see if it was OK to be helping. When I realized it was cool, I got brave and took a nap on Mom’s pile of papers. Mom sure does have paper everywhere when she is working. I even took over her chair when she went to answer the door. Oh Drat! The dogs are back already! There goes my new job.- Mini Cooper, the office helper (aka paper weight)
In the winter we bring the large deck plants inside and winter them over in the bathtub. It’s the cat’s personal jungle. They spend a lot of time playing around them, chewing on them, and, of course, hiding in them. I actually miss the plants when spring comes and we take them outside again. I don’t miss the use of the tub because it is too big and takes 2 full tanks of hot water to fill. When Peanut was little (around 6 or 7), I used to use it as a swimming pool for her and her little friends. Now it is the winter atrium and cat velodrome.
Today we are celebrating Imbolc or Imbolg (pronounced i-MOLG), also called (Saint) Brigid’s Day. It is a Gaelic traditional festival marking the beginning of spring. Most commonly it is held on 1 February, or about halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Here at DogDaz Zoo we take any and every reason to have a party!
Saint Brigid please bring the flowers and the birds soon.
Nine has taken a fancy to the dog’s tennis ball.I don’t know if this was an act of defiance (it’s yours so I am taking it), a true act of comfort (cats sleep on the darnest things), or pure silliness (because he loves to make us laugh).
There are lots of boxes and bows and things to play with.
All our people, large and small, are gathered together.
We love Christmas morning. It is a special day.
Christmas day at the DogDaz Zoo humbles us every year, as we celebrate how lucky we are to be a family, to be together, to be warm, to be fed, and most of all, to be loved.
May the light of the season guide you and bring you peace.
