Monday Mischief: Selfie Fail

The weather has finally turned ‘normal’ for December in the Mid-Atlantic. It was nice to take a brisk walk down to the river. Getting these three to pose is just impossible. Charles won’t sit on command, Sofie wants to lie down wherever she is, but, at least Louise listens to me (sometimes).

I will master the group photo sooner or later. I tried a selfie of me with the three dogs but that didn’t work. I think I need another human to get a family shot.

Do you have a good method for family fur fotos? I really need help here. Share in the comments. Thanks.

Black and White Sunday: Sunning Sofie

Winter Sofie 2014

I love how she loves to find a sun spot in the grass.

Dogs and cats are such hedonists. I wish life could be so simple.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Wordless Wednesday: Simply Irresistible

Simply Irresistible

Robert Palmer

How can it be permissible
She compromise my principle, yeah yeah
That kind of love is mythical
She’s anything but typical

She’s a craze you’d endorse, she’s a powerful force
You’re obliged to conform when there’s no other course
She used to look good to me, but now I find her him
Simply irresistible, Simply irresistible

Her His loving is so powerful, huh
It’s simply unavoidable
The trend is irreversible
The woman is invincible

She’s a natural law, and she leaves me in awe

She deserves the applause, I surrender because

Sheused to look good to me, but now I find her him
Simply irresistible, Simply irresistible

Monday Mischief: A Hair Raising Bed Story

Dogs with long, fine hair tend to shed less than other breeds. Some breeds shed very little hair. Strictly “non-shedding breeds” do not exist. However, most breeds with single coats are considered “non-shedding” because their shedding is not very noticeable.” – The Science of Fur

The person who wrote that article never met Louise.

Every day when I make my bed, I throw a flannel sheet over it immediately or I will be sleeping in fur.

I carefully tuck the sheet over my pillows and make sure every inch is covered before I go to make breakfast.

But, Louise wants my pillows. No matter how tight under the covers I put them, she digs them out and makes a nest.

It’s no fair! I used to give her a special pillow but she wants all of them. But worse….

The hair, the hair is everywhere!!

Louise is single coated and short hair. Sheis supposed to be the least of my shedders.

With the addition of Charles’ long black hair, I just can’t win.

Thankfully, Sofie doesn’t shed much (even though she has the longest finest hair). Or maybe I just don’t see it because she is blond.

Any ideas how to keep a bed fur free? I know, ban the dogs from sleeping on it!  Hahahahaha – good luck with that at DogDaz Zoo.

Black and White Sunday: Leaf Me Alone

Sofie sometimes decides that she would rather lie down under the front tree in a pile of leaves then come in the house with the rest of us. Who could blame her? Squash E Bear used to do the same thing. There is something about a good pile of leaves that just makes you want to lie down.

Have a lovely Black and White Sunday.

Monday Mischief: Chuck’s Special Treat

Charles here. I want to tell you about my day. Once a week, Louise and Sofie go for a play date with Sonya and her pack for a few hours. That leaves me home with Mom and the silly cats. I get sad when my sisters leave but Mom always gives me something special to chew on while they are gone. I am a really good chewer and make quick work of every chew treat she gives me. Then I pine until the girls return. What is your favorite chew treat?

Black and White Sunday: Détente

Charles thinks he owns the bed, but Mini Cooper thinks she owns the bed.

Détente means the easing of strained relations

This is the closest I have ever seen them lie.

“If we don’t look at each other then the other must not really be there, right?”

Have a wonderful Black and White Sunday.

Black and White Sunday: Super Sniffers

Some dog(s) must have left a very loud message on the swing set down by the river. I am always in awe of the dogs’ incredible noses. Especially, when you have a hound, like Louise. Her nose is never far from the ground tracking something. I call her a ‘Hoover,’ (like the vacuum cleaner). …They possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, compared to about six million in us. And the part of a dog’s brain that is devoted to analyzing smells is, proportionally speaking, 40 times greater than ours.(NOVA – Dogs Sense of Smell)

A good sniff is worth a thousand words. Enjoy your Black and White Sunday!

DogDaz Zoo: If You Could Speak Dog…

A question popped up on my Facebook feed this morning that said, “If you could have one minute to say anything to your dog that they could understand, what would it be?” Truthfully, I don’t need one minute. I talk to the dogs, and cats, all the time and I really think they understand what I mean because it isn’t the words but the energy behind them. What do you think? Do you need a translator to speak dog? Sofie says she understands me purrfectly.

Monday Mischief: Goblins & Ghouls

Keeping 3 dogs quiet when people keep coming up to the front door of the house is a major feat. (Keeping Sofie quite, ever, is a big job.) I put the ‘baby’ gate at the top of the stairs to keep them away from the door, but they still can look over the ledge and watch the action. Charles actually came through the bars (like the cats do) on the side. I guess I will have to block that section too next year. You can see Sofie hiding behind the fountain watching me. I am sure it doesn’t help that the skeleton dog and cat are outside the front windows. Looking out the side windows which have prism glass, I would bark too.
