Caturday: The Paws

Cat paws are such delicate and fascinating things. Have you really ever looked at them? I am amazed how they provide such support to jump way up onto things when they are so soft and smushy. But that is exactly what they were designed for – they are shock absorbers. And did you ever notice your cat using their front paws to hold things like humans do? They have 5 fingers on their front paws but only 4 on their back. Want to know more about paws?  Here are 9 Fascinating Facts About Cat Paws

Black and White Sunday: Kitty & NoNo

Spring 2008

Noel, the Christmas Cat, about a year old in this photo, and baby Constance Kitty, maybe 6 months, amazed by a bird or a bug out the window. Connie passed over the bridge at about 5 years old. Noel, as you know, is still staring out that window 11 years later.

Caturday: Stop Watching Me!

Noel is looking a little worried because the Charles pillow seems to be watching her no matter where she goes. I am worried that we will come home and find that pillow shredded to pieces because it just spooked her once too often. Better the pillow then the actual pup, at least. Noel is larger than Charles in real life.

Caturday: Tumbler

Is it the tumbling motion, the vibration, or maybe the heat that Nine and Mini like so much on top of the dryer?

Monday Mischief: The Beggers

Begging has gotten out of hand at the Zoo. Even Noel has joined in the staring contest.

“If I look at you soulfully enough you will surely give me a piece of whatever you are eating. RIGHT NOW!!”

Charles is actually the worst because he can’t contain himself and he starts to demand bark (with that little yappy PomChi staccato.)

The house rule is that no animal is fed from a human plate directly. Food needs to be in their bowl preferably or at least on the floor. If the other humans in the house followed my the rules, this probably would not be going on as much. I think it is much easier to train animals than humans. At least the animals are only staring and not grabbing. I guess I should feel accomplished at that much.

Caturday: Noel Turns 11

Noel’s wish for her birthday is just to sleep wherever and when ever she can.

But when not sleeping, she is amusing us with her antics.

Happy 11th birthday, Noel. You bring us great joy and happiness.

DogDaz Zoo: A Surprise for Mom

mm3.16.15

Mom got a gluten free cupcake for her birthday. It sure looks like cardboard to us. V says everything Mom eats is cardboard anyway (because she is gluten and dairy free and does not eat meat) but we think Mom’s food is pretty good since we eat simple too (and she shares lots of veggies and fruit with us).

We are going to throw a party for Mom. Shhhh… don’t tell her. She said she is feeling old this birthday, so we thought we would throw her a little surprise to make her smile. Noel, the Christmas cat, suggested we all pee on Mom’s newspaper but we dogs can come up with something better than that (right Sofie and Charles?). Maybe we can shred some of our toys and throw the stuffing around the living room as decorations? She would surely like that. What do you think we should do?

Happy Birthday, Mom!  We love you – Louise, Sofie Bear, Charles,

Noel, Nine, Stella, and Mini Cooper.

Caturday: Stella the Fish

Stella is our Mackerel Tabby. I never heard that description before. Good to know.

A mackerel tabby has narrow stripes that run in parallel down its sides. This is what some people refer to as a “tiger cat.” The body has narrow stripes running down the sides in a vertical pattern.

Ideally the stripes are non-broken lines; evenly spaced. They branch out from one stripe that runs along the top of the cat’s back down the spine, resembling fish skeleton — which is why the term “mackerel” is used to describe it. According to Catster
