Mom made us wait on the landing while she gave candy and prizes to the little goblins that came to the house last week on Halloween. We were surprisingly good and patient. We usually bark at every little noise and person, but for some reason, we decided to take a break this year. Maybe it was the very scary stick clown that Mommy put in front of us to keep us in line. What is it about clowns? Humans have a funny thing about them. I am not sure that we dogs find them as scary as humans do, but they are pretty weird looking. Maybe Mommy should do a clown test and see if the scary stick clown really did keep us in line. We are not going to let her know either way. Who’s afraid of a big scary stick? The trio in black and white. It’s not easy getting all three of them in a single shot and definitely not when they are all smiling. I love these three goofballs. When you have animals that all have significantly different personalities, a nice long walk helps them calm together. What makes you smile? A walk, a tummy rub, bacon???

Some people don’t think my dogs are bonded to each other because they are very independent souls. However, I find that Louise and Sofie are closer as they get older. Louise actually waits outside the door for Sofie to come run in the yard. Maybe its because she wants a playmate, but I think it is because she enjoys her company. Neither of them seems very bonded to Charles, who has been with us for 2 years this December. Maybe that is a size thing? However, the other day when Charles was yapping because he could not see us when we were outside by the water, Sofie ran to him and it kind of looked like she was telling him that everything would be ok. Maybe it is my anthropomorphizing dog intentions, but I do think they care for each other over caring for strangers.Just another DogDaz morning at the zoo ❤

This was Sofie circa 2014 about the same time of year. The river looks the same but the bulkhead is now natural shoreline. Though it is humid and still warm many days, the nights are getting cooler and the fall rains have moved in. I am sure next week we will see very high water from Hurricane Florence (named after my Mom). It has been many years since Hurricane Isabel had a 7-foot surge and wiped out the playground and dock. I wonder what Florence might bring? We are seeing unprecedented changes year after year in water level. Who knew that weather would become it’s own TV channel and that we would watch it and listen to it endlessly.Just another DogDaz morning at the zoo ❤
