We wish all our wonderful blog family an awesome holiday season and a wonderful 2023 New Year celebration.
Mom is having eye surgery this week and will not be blogging again until next year. Hopefully, she will be seeing her way to more posts in early January. (Get the pun, ‘seeing her way’ – Bark Out Loud)
Thank you for following and commenting and just being our blog friends. We appreciate you and hope to ‘see’ you all in the New Year.

Every year Mom, of course, has a furry merry holiday theme going on. This year she added me, Jolie, to the animals. I get to shine next to the spirit of Louise. After a million years of searching, she also found some holiday cats. Last year she ordered one from China and it never came. This year she jumped on it and got the last set in stock and drove many miles to pick it up (do you think she is obsessed). V said they look very ‘made in China’ with their pink ears, but Mom likes them a lot. Now almost everyone is represented (missing one cat at the moment but maybe the baby bear will stand in for Stella). I can’t wait to see what happens inside the house.
Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

We love the couch. Our couch is the perfect place to nap. We nap a lot. Mom says that we are just lazy loafers.
On average, most dogs spend about 50% of their day sleeping—about 12 hours in a 24-hour period. Puppies, large-breed dogs, and older dogs may sleep more, while small-breed dogs and working dogs may sleep less.
In addition to the 50% of their day spent sleeping, dogs will then spend another 30% of their awake hours doing what I call “loafing.” Just like with humans, loafing is when a dog is awake but really not doing much of anything—just hanging out. Typically, loafing time is spent lying down, watching the world go by, and generally enjoying being lazy.
So, that comes out to a whopping 80% of the doggy day being spent not doing much of anything at all.
Our couch is the perfect place to be lazy loafers. That and the top of the stairs.
Where do you love to loaf?

Charles here – I am interrupting the Caturday post to bring you an update on my bladder surgery:

Everything is going great. The first day was hard and no one told Mommy to have ramps and things for me to get up onto the bed and couch and boy, did coming up the stairs hurt, But you know me, Mr. Biter, I would not let anyone carry me, even though the stairs were really tough.
I was not very impressed with the ramp Mom made from pillows, but Joile thought it was a hoot!
I am making Mom crazy with going out a great deal, but maybe it is because I am just getting used to not having that big bladder stone anymore. The Doctor called and said that it was a CALCIUM OXILATE stone. That is what we thought and there is not much we can do but stay on the special urinary diet we are on and hope no new ones grow.
Mom says I am licking myself too much and she is going to the store to get a baby onesy. That sounds awful.

Charles here: I just wanted to let you know that I am Ok and did very well with my surgery. The Doctor said I am a real trooper.

It is going to be hard for a few days until all the stitches heal but I should be as good as new, for an old guy. They aren’t going to get rid of me so fast. At 14-1/2 years old and 14 pounds, I plan to be around for several more sun rises.
The Dr said that the stone was so big and green and odd, that they are sending it to a lab to make sure it wasn’t some alien from outer space. Then maybe we can know what we can do to avoid more in the future.

I am having trouble with the stairs and don’t want anyone to touch me, so I am trying to bite people to leave me alone. It’s not that I don’t love them. Mom made me a ramp to get up on the bed cause I can’t even do my dog stairs. But hopefully I’ll be OK soon.

Mr. Charles is having his cystotomy today. The date was moved up because he is starting to have issues. A cystotomy is a surgical opening created in the wall of the urinary bladder. This procedure allows the surgeon to look inside the bladder and remove the giant stone that he has. Beat your drums for a quick and pain-free recovery. We will keep you posted.

Jolie here: I decided that Mom never had a true lap dog before. She is more used to lap cats. Big dogs always were near her but not as much on her, so they can’t be classified as lap dogs and all her other dogs, except Charles, were over 25 lbs.
Charlie, who is only 14 lbs, is a nice guy and all, but he is a couch dog, not a lap dog. Mom thinks it is because his joints always hurt so he doesn’t like to be ‘on’ someone, he likes to be next to someone. Yes, definitely a couch dog.
Me, on the other hand, I like a lap. I like to be in the center of everything even if Mom is working. I am sure the people on the other end of her camera calls like to see me much more than they want to see Mini Cooper, who is always on the desk or in the window. I am the #1 lap dog in this zoo.

Does your human let you sit on their lap when they are working? Do you give them a choice?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

When I come home this is the welcoming committee.
Mostly they are saying ‘feed us!’
They crack me up. I did not realize when I was taking the last picture of Jolie, Charles, and Mini up the steps that Noel was at the top actually looking down to see when supper was coming. It amazes me sometimes that Mini Cooper is actually the 3rd dog. She is quick to be at the front door and wants to be part of whatever the pups are doing. Luckily, the dogs have never minded.

Are we boring you, Charles?
Note: If you may be wondering about the missing stair side piece. One day, about 20 years ago, V wanted to see what was under the fancy piece. And, so it has remained. That is life at the DogDaz Zoo.

Henry was walking Skeletor and Catzilla. Then it started to rain. Jolie was barking at them (you can see her in the background).
