Wonderful Wednesday: New Holiday Look

Every year Mom, of course, has a furry merry holiday theme going on. This year she added me, Jolie, to the animals. I get to shine next to the spirit of Louise. After a million years of searching, she also found some holiday cats. Last year she ordered one from China and it never came. This year she jumped on it and got the last set in stock and drove many miles to pick it up (do you think she is obsessed). V said they look very ‘made in China’ with their pink ears, but Mom likes them a lot. Now almost everyone is represented (missing one cat at the moment but maybe the baby bear will stand in for Stella). I can’t wait to see what happens inside the house.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Black and White Sunday: Diluted Diluted Tortie

The sun beamed washed over Mini Cooper and diluted her already diluted tortie* coloring. When I turned it to black and white, you really see her stripping vs her coloring.

Diluted Tortie Cats

Tortie is short for “tortoiseshell”, a popular coat pattern seen on many cat breeds. In the world of cat fanciers, some coat colors elicit more curiosity than others. Tortoiseshell cats attract attention wherever they go.

Standard torties have a mix of orange and black fur, either finely interspersed (a brindle tortie), in big splodges (a patchwork tortie), or somewhere in between (just a tortoiseshell tortie!) Dilute tortie cats have a tortoiseshell coat pattern with one remarkable difference: instead of the striking, dark mix of orange and black, dilute tortoiseshell cats have a muted, almost blue and yellow color.

Memorial Day ’21: Soldier Dogs – Our 4-Legged Heros

Today in the United States we observe Memorial Day honoring our fallen heroes from all our wars. (Even one war is too many, I think.)

I am reposting this story from 2012 on Soldier Dogs. Those wonderful animals who were selected to serve our country along side our soldiers and performed, and still perform, an invaluable service to our nation.

From FastCompany:

These are some images from the book Soldier Dogs: The Four-Legged Heros of Iraq and Afghanistan and a quote:

Military Working Dogs play a crucial part in America’s armed services. The best known “Soldier Dog,” Cairo, put crucial canine skills to work in the SEAL Team Six operation that killed Osama Bin Laden. Other Military Working Dogs serve as everything from bomb sniffers to troop companions to search and rescue dogs (and also serve in darker roles, such as duty at Guantanamo Bay). Their handlers and trainers, devoted dog lovers down to a man, form an unusually close-knit fraternity within the military.

Dogs are not only our best friends, they are an incredible asset to our safety forces. Thank you to all the handlers and animals that keep us safe around the world.  – DogDaz

DogDaz Zoo: 2019 Year In Review

When you look at a whole year in less than 9 minutes you realize that your life is full of moments that are so valuable. We were so blessed this year with everyone at the DogDaz Zoo staying relatively healthy and happy. We look forward to another year of moments and cuddles and licks and love. The greatest lesson I learn from documenting life with my Zoo is that consistent love and caring make everything flow in just the direction it should. Oh yes, as long as we do it Queen Noel’s way.

DogDaz Zoo: Boxing Day

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/df6/30723553/files/2014/12/img_2284.jpg

We got a Bark Box from Peanut and tons of toys from Mom. Kitties got lots of feathery stick things. We gave Mom extra barks, licks, and cuddles. Happy clean up day.

Today is Memorial Day in the United States of America.

I repost this story every year, because soldier dogs are truly amazing heros.

7.23.13 No internet = No blog hop

Hi. Typing on my smartphone. Service down since Sunday. Maybe fixed tomorrow. No phone, TV, or computer. Oh my!  Everyone has to actually read books. How cruel!
