Year after year, the ducks return to teach their young how to swim in the river. Sofie wants to help, but they don’t appreciate it very much. Who taught you to swim?

On Black and White Sunday yesterday, I showed you the lovely little duck family taking their first float on the river. When we got to the dock the dogs were beside themselves wanting to spoil the idealic moment. They ran from dock to dock and I had to stop them several times from jumping in. Then Louise ran down the boat ramp and Sofie followed, and I had all I could do to stop them from swimming any further out. I do not know what they would do to the ducklings, but I do not want to find out. Then of course, as we walk up the hill to the house, at the corner, in the middle of the road, are Harold and Maude, the male and female pair that happen to be living under a bush by the house. Sofie was beside herself again. But at least the big one’s can fly. Though usually they fly right into my back yard pool. But that is for another post.
I did not get a picture of them swimming because I was to busy yelling at them too come back!
(No ducks or dogs were harmed in this adventure.)

Sunday Morning Swim
The first float for the duck family. This is the real overcast color that day (so it is not really a black and white photo), but it looked so close to a B&W and it was too cute not to publish. Come back tomorrow when I show you who is standing only a few feet away trying desperately to spoil the fun.
I count 8 ducklings – how many do you count?
