Just in case you ever wondered what happens in the above ground parking garage when you are gone. I saw these 2 pigeons trying to break into this car. Really! I missed the shot of them pecking on the window and trying to get in. Next time I am parking outside where it is safe. Enjoy your Sunday!
This is part of the Black and White Sunday Blog Hop. Thanks to Dachshund Nola and Sugar for hosting.
The DEA announced that, in partnership with local law enforcement, the agency has successfully closed a six month investigation into major catnip trafficking syndicate based in the small town of Gibbs Falls, North Dakota. The operation ended with 12 arrests and the seizure of over 2,000 pounds of catnip. Street value: $1.4 million.
“We’re happy to get all that nip off the streets,” said agent Monica Payne, who lead the undercover operation, posing for months as a catnip buyer.
The cats involved in the ring were importing the illicit substance through Canada. Most of it was destined for Midwestern cities like Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit. But what made this ring so dangerous, said Payne, was that they were also “cooking” the catnip into a highly additive designer drug known on the street as “scratch.”
“Scratch has ruined a lot of lives,” said Payne. “And cats only get nine.”
Both Gertrude and The Muffin Man (aka Muffy) are gone (picture from 2011), but sometimes, when I look to my left from my computer, out of the corner of my eye it seems like they are still there under the window. But alas! They are not, it is just a wisp of cat hair floating by.
Penguin watching made with data. Before data became a household name, zoos depended on good weather and maybe the birth of a cute, baby elephant to draw crowds. Now they’re able to keep visitors coming with social media and analytics. Like The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington. It feeds the public’s interest in the zoo with data by taking what they learn from comments on social media and offering special deals and membership events on the fly.Explore more stories →
DogDaz is very sad with the too early passing of Robin WIlliams. Hope this little video brings happy memories. There really are no words when something as sad as this occurs. My thoughts are with all those who suffer such pain inside themselves. Scientists have been unable to explain whether or not animals are able to consciously end their own lives, but we know that humans can. I hope that animals can’t. – Lorian

Miss Madge has been URGENT since June and still needs someone to help!!!
She is at a boarding kennel again after her foster moved and she is going nuts!!!
This is Madge, who we’re now referring to as “Miracle Madge.” With the help of some awesome volunteers at literally the last minute, she was pulled in May from a Maryland shelter where her time was up. After meeting her in person, we were actually surprised she was given the time she was at her shelter. Though she’s sweet as pie, Madge looks like she’s been through hell and back in her short 3 year life. Through all of her nightmarish past, Madge stands strong and is just a delight to be around.
She’s got a gorgeous smile that’s so completely full of life, you can’t help but smile when you are around her.
She seriously enjoys the company of people and adores the attention she receives.
She’s has successful met other dogs (which she completely ignored).
She is not good with young children (that is why her most recent adoption fell through).
Her previous and VERY kind last foster set Madge up with a Banfield account so she can continue to get the medical care she needs. But that foster moved and poor Madge had to go back to boarding. Madge has had a very rough life and she still has a long journey to go, but we know there is a special someone out there to help her along the way. Please share her story and message caninenation.org to help! Shes currently in NJ and needs a miracle now!
Thank you! Let’s get Madge out of boarding and into a foster home today!
Please remember that all pets need loving homes. Foster or forever – you can help today. All of us at DogDaz Zoo Thank You! We rescued Mommy, maybe some animal can rescue you!!
