Here at DogDaz Zoo we celebrate many different seasonal holidays and tonight we celebrate Hanukkah. We enjoy the wonderful smells, tastes, and traditions of the season. I’m making potato pancakes, called Latkes, for the humans. Onion, potatoes, and lots of oil for frying. If you have not had them with apple sauce (or for you none Vegan’s, sour cream), you don’t know what you are missing.
Stella and Noel want to wish you a wonderful holiday season. May the spirit of charity, kindness, and caring find its way to you and may you find peace and safety in all that you do. – Your friends at the DogDaz Zoo

We adopted Noel and Connie together at Christmas in 2007. Constance was a kitten, maybe 12 weeks old, and Noel was probably 8 or 9 months at the time. Constance had spine problems and was crooked her whole life. The Vet did not know if she would be able to jump on things or what she would be able to do. But nothing stopped her, she was a fearless little thing. I love that picture of her cuddling Squash E Bear’s tail. He used to wave it back and forth for her and she would grab it and hold on for a ride.
She left us in December 2012.
I cannot imagine a life without cats!

We were walking in the neighborhood and noticed that some people are really clear about where their property ends and their neighbor’s starts. Mom said that trees don’t care about boundary lines. The leaves fall freely where they may and don’t get all caught up in what side they are on. We like that idea. Animals don’t care about property lines either. That is why humans define our space with fences and such, because we would be like the leaves and go everywhere. If there is a squirrel in your yard, we are going to chase it no matter what! That only seems right.

What Mischief did you get into today?

Sofie in Oct 2013.
Interesting how much her feathers have grown & how dark her ear tips have become. Just a few years makes a world of difference in an animal.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

This is part of the Black and White Sunday Blog Hop. Thanks to Dachshund Nola and Sugar for hosting.

November 28 marks 4 years of blogging for DogDaz Zoo. I have done a post almost every day during that time and many days I have posted twice. Since November 2011, I have published over 2,633 posts, received more than 23,459 comments, with 94,113 views and 1,831 people followers. Those numbers blow my mind. DogDaz started because of my love for my dogs and cats and my interest in connecting to a global community of animal lovers. It was a way to share my deep enjoyment of animals, my love of technology, and my desire to converse with others of a like mind. The journey has been rewarding and wonderful.

There are so many times I have thought about not blogging anymore. Those of you that post your own stuff know how hard it is to keep a constant schedule – coming up with new material, making sure you meet your deadlines. All that can wear on you after 1,400 or so days. But I love to blog. The once or twice I have taken more than a few days break, I have missed it tremendously. That is why I always find a way, day after day, to share fun photos, stories, and stuff.
Life at the zoo has gotten pretty busy. The daylight is shorter and the workday is longer. There seems to be less and less time to be creative (bummer). I think I am going to alter my publishing schedule a little to give myself a break. Maybe, I will do 4 days out of 7 or something like that? I love the interaction with my readers and don’t want to lose that. Many of you, your animals, your families, feel like old friends. I have watched you grow and you have watched us. We share your high moments, and sadly, sometimes, your low moments. Thank you for 4 great blog years. I look forward to lightening my blogging load to get more time to read your stuff.
