I know it is big on her, but memories are more important than size sometimes. I wonder if she even remembers him, because she was only 1 when he passed over the rainbow bridge to the big meadow in the sky. She digs down deep in the toy box sometimes and brings up some of his old toys that they used to share. Do you think animals remember the ones that are no longer with us? I like to think they do.

Sofie, the snownose, in the snow. Several winters ago, Sofie’s black nose turned white. They call this ‘snow nose.’ It is the lack of pigment in the cold weather. You can read about it from my post back in 2013. Funny thing with Sofie’s nose, it never totally goes back to black.

Sometimes, you can just find the best toys at KMart. It is hard to see, even at night, but there is a flashing light where the pee hits the snowman.
This reminded me of my blog friend, Easy. He would have found this funny. Easy left the planet the other day and is now, with Sammy the OneSpoiledCat, and all our Zoo Angels, in the big meadow over the rainbow bridge. This has been a good few weeks if you are in the Angel making business, but a bad few weeks for us still down here. Easy was a really special weimaraner and his humans really knew how to show his personality on their blog.

Squash E Bear, I know you understand, wherever you are, how much we miss you. Fall was your season. Your coat would get so full and fluffy. How you loved to put your nose high in the air and sniff the change in the wind. It is like yesterday you would crunch through the leaves and make a nest. Six falls have past already without you and yet, I see you still under the big tree, watching for a rabbit or a squirrel to come into the yard. Fall was always our time big guy. Hope they have leaf piles over the rainbow.

Dear Mom –
I just want you to know that no matter what anyone says, you are the best Mom in the whole wide universe, I don’t mean to wake you up at 3 AM barking at nothing. Or chase the cats. Or whine endlessly while you are trying to go to sleep. It was not my fault that the loud noises over head with those light flashes made me so scared that I ate through the door to find shelter in the laundry room. I don’t like noises, Mom. They hurt my head and I want to attack them. I am really sensitive and I don’t like when you are not in the house with me. I stick to you, like thistles stick to my coat, because you make me feel calm and safe. It is not my fault that my brain is wired a little different than other beings. I have these terrible dreams at night and they wake me and make me want to attack the air. I need to always be sucking on something to calm my nerves. Thank you for all the toys, especially the catnip toys, that help me find comfort in every room. Together we can overcome anything, Mom. I am your fluffball, your ‘sodapop.’ I am your Sofie Bear and I know that you rescued me because we were meant to be together. I love you, Mom. I hope that my face shows you that everytime I look at you.
