As the season changes the mushrooms seem to take hold on our walk. All types of mushrooms are appearing on peoples lawns. It is a lovely display of fairy circles and wild spores. Lulu likes to water them mostly. They are bigger than Charles and they scare him a little so he tries to avoid them if he can. Sofie just sniffs. Don’t let the furries eat them if you don’t know what they are, they can be deadly. And don’t eat them yourself unless you are knowledgeable about what you have picked. I think they are cool to look at but don’t tend to pick my own. Do you pick your own fungi?
Peanut and I were watching TV. Mr. Charles decided he wasn’t getting enough attention or food or whatever and so he went over to the other couch and dug a hole under the blanket, sulked and went to sleep. He is such a funny little critter. We never saw him do that before. Not having had a little dog before Charles, I find him to be more cat-like than dog. That action is definitely something Mini Cooper cat would do, but not the other dogs. The dogs dig holes in the bed and move the covers around and make nests but they don’t hide under the covers, only the cats do that. Do you hide under the blankets?
Happiness is a warm batch of grass. I love to see Sofie smile. With all her anxiety and arthritis, it makes me so happy when she can catch a moment of joy. Usually, that is rolling in some grass somewhere. Have a wonderful Black and White Sunday.
This was Sofie circa 2014 about the same time of year. The river looks the same but the bulkhead is now natural shoreline. Though it is humid and still warm many days, the nights are getting cooler and the fall rains have moved in. I am sure next week we will see very high water from Hurricane Florence (named after my Mom). It has been many years since Hurricane Isabel had a 7-foot surge and wiped out the playground and dock. I wonder what Florence might bring? We are seeing unprecedented changes year after year in water level. Who knew that weather would become it’s own TV channel and that we would watch it and listen to it endlessly.
The Muffin Man. Yep, that was his name. We called him “Muffy” or “Muffin.” He came with that name. You know how there are just some cats that clearly capture your heart forever. That was him. The ambassador of catliness. The definitive orange cat. The coolest of cats.
I always seem to have too many words on Wordless Wednesday, sorry, but did I tell you that Louise is the best dog in the universe (don’t tell Sofie and Charles)? She had a cyst removed from the top of her head. Seven stitches later, she hardly complained at all. I did try to put a cone on her because she was starting to scratch them, but the cone freaked her out terribly. So, my alternative was an aloe vera spray (because I didn’t want to touch the incision). That worked great to keep the area moist and I guess it didn’t itch too much. 14 days for stitches to be removed. That dog is just the best patient in the house. The other two would be whining and carrying on endlessly.
Sofie is always leaning or resting her head on something. I hate when it is the leg of my office chair because if when I forget she is there I hear a big yelp. This dog definitely leans against odd things.
