Mommy - are you done yet?
Do you ever wonder why children and pets hate when you are in the bathroom with out them? I was going to take a shower. As you can see 3 of the pitiful zoo creatures were camped outside my bathroom door.

Nine and I will just lie on your PJs
Silly me, I let them in.

Can I jump into the bathtub with you, Mom?
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
Nine likes to eat the plants (and so does Sofie when she can) – so when you get out of the bath or the shower, you are lucky if you do not step in dirt with you clean feet. Hahahaha. Silly goofies! They just want to be wherever I am. But, just when you are finally settled and soaking nicely in the tub, someone wants to leave. Oh my – now you know I am not getting out to open the door.

Nine & I want to leave now can you open the door plz?
It does get kind of embarrassing when people come to visit us because my house is old and the doors do not close well and the animals all like to barge in on anyone sitting in the bathroom. I try to discourage that behavior but we do not get many visitors…. Oh…. maybe that is why?…. Just realized that.
The dogs and cats all like to lick the water from the shower basin (that is probably bad, right?). What’s a PetMom to do? It keeps them busy and I can keep an eye on most of them.

Excuse me visitor, but why are you sitting there?

Can we jump on you?

These are some of my favorite images from the new book Soldier Dogs. There are more pictures in our slideshow today.
Military Working Dogs play a crucial part in America’s armed services. The best known “Soldier Dog,” Cairo, put crucial canine skills to work in the SEAL Team Six operation that killed Osama Bin Laden. Other Military Working Dogs serve as everything from bomb sniffers to troop companions to search and rescue dogs (and also serve in darker roles, such as duty at Guantanamo Bay). Their handlers and trainers, devoted dog lovers down to a man, form an unusually close-knit fraternity within the military.

Dear Reader – Now that the blog has grown so large I am having trouble keeping up with all my favorite blog posters and also answering all the comments. So how do you keep up with all your blog work? Please tell me how you incorporate it into your day?
With all my current duties, keeping the new kittens in line, making sure that Muffin is not bothered, making sure that Kitty does not hurt herself, sleeping 18 hours a day, dealing with the dumb dogs, and of course eating as often as Mommy will let me, I just can’t seem to keep up. Please share your secrets.

Nine and Stella are very taken with the activity outside the kitchen window. All my animals seem to love this window, maybe because it is a nice sill to lie on. The dogs like to look out the windows too, but Sofie really can’t see over the ledge. I love when we can open the windows but we get this fine green coating of pollen over everything in and outside the house. There use to be a big maple shading that window but we had to take her down last year because of ‘borers’ and lightening damage. Now the shade garden on that side had to be moved and that side has become a sun garden. Because all my cats live indoors only, the world outside the windows are something magical. Nine constantly tries to run out with the dogs, so we are having to be very careful that he does not go galloping out in all the dog excitement. The cats sit by any door the dogs are outside of and watch. Windows and doors to the world. I know there is a metaphor for some great life lesson here, but it is just not coming to mind at the moment.

The girls and I went down to the river to try and see if their were any new Osprey babies. Mr. Osprey was not very happy that we were there and circled us angrily.

My Osprey
We have another platform in the neighborhood on top of a telephone pole for another family of Osprey. As the girls and I were walking home past that other platform, one of the parents swooped down with a fish in it’s talons (it looked like a Sunny) and then took off without giving it to the babies (I assume because it saw us). The babies were peeping like crazy. That is how we knew they were even there, because that platform is so high up we can’t see into it like we can the water platform. I wish I was able to take a picture of the Osprey with the fish, but with 2 leashes, the rain, and the speed of the Osprey (the new phone s still hard to handle), I just was not quick enough.
The other night the Osprey were screeching for a long time near mid-night and I never knew why.
I love where I live. Thank you mother nature for all your gifts.

Ok everyone…THESE are among the chicken treats responsible for killing dogs or making them seriously ill. Vets everywhere are now warning everyone to stop giving your dogs these treats. They are slowly shutting down dog’s kidneys and it is because of something they have in them, still as yet UNKNOWN. The fact that they don’t know what the contaminant is, is why the
FDA has not pulled these treats from stores. Do not buy ANY treats made in China, as that is where these contaminated, poisonous products are coming from. The FDA has received over 600 complaints on these….other brands are
Canyon Creek Ranch and
DOGSWELL. Anyone feeding their dog chicken treats needs to look at the package carefully as the words “Made in China” can be very small… do not be fooled by the phrase “An American Company” they are using in large print!
It’s a huge issue and is still being investigated! Please click share and pass along – it could save a life. I think this is very scary. Please comment if you know of any other brands to make my readers aware of. Thanks – DogDaz

Sunshine and happiness! There is nothing like a smiling dog on a sunny day. The dogs and I took a great walk in the woods and went exploring. We had a great muddy time.
It is so much fun to romp through the leaves and jump over branches and through trees. The dogs help me remember what is important! It is the simple things: the smiles, the smells, and the sense of adventure that keeps my heart pounding. What did you do just for you today? I went walking with my girls and smiled.
