This is one of my favorite shots of the animals mirroring. Here is little Mini Cooper with Louise laying together on the bed under the blanket (I did the blanket thing, they didn’t). Humans mirror too.
Mirroring is a social phenomenon where animals mimic another’s posture. In humans, we may not only mimic posture but gestures and words. It is an unconscious behavior but it is a sign of being attuned and in sync with the other being. “It shows that there is comfort, trust, and rapport among them.”
It seems that we are always having to make goo-goo eyes at Mom these days to get Second Supper. Why doesn’t she just give it to us immediately without our having to line up and make all kinds of unearthly noises and faces? Charles is the worst. He sounds like an Ewok from that Star movie. Or some animal dying. Me, well, I just whine and whine and whine until she gives in. How can anyone resist my smile? – Sofie
This was the first ‘Black & White Sunday’ post I ever did. It was December 16, 2012. I definitely have gotten better at taking pictures of the goofballs in the last 9 years.
Come on Louise, let’s play!
When you have a dark dog and a light dog, getting the right camera exposure is really hard. Sofie is on my lap on the couch and Louise is on the floor. Yes, those are my piggy pajamas she has her head on (bottom right corner); they are purple. The caption should probably read something more like: “This is my Mommy, so go away!” which seems to be a constant lap battle around here. – 12.16.12
