Last winter, during the dark months of the lockdown for the humans, they ran out of the precious paper that they use in the room which we always follow them into to sit down. They decided that they were not going to allow something called the ‘supply chain’ to leave them ‘strained without a roll.’ We are not sure what all that means but we are very aware of this new paper mountain landscape that is appearing down the main hall. Do all humans do this?

It seems that we are always having to make goo-goo eyes at Mom these days to get Second Supper. Why doesn’t she just give it to us immediately without our having to line up and make all kinds of unearthly noises and faces? Charles is the worst. He sounds like an Ewok from that Star movie. It is always interesting to see the cats mirror the dogs (or was this the other way around?) I don’t know if Lulu was there first or Nine.

Memories: On a hot summer day, in 2014, Louise’s boyfriend next door, Mojo, wasn’t home but they went over to swim with his baby sister Zelda instead. It was so much fun. Louise really wanted to play with Zelda’s toy but she would not go in the pool to get it. Louise doesn’t like to get wet (she hates rain too). Sofie, on the other hand, was brave and got all the way in. She loves to swim but has trouble with puppies. That day swimming won over puppy fear.

It was a strange spring this year. So hot in May with no rain that we had to start watering the plants, then some rain, no rain, cold, then thunder and lightning, then torrential rain, then hot again. But now we have entered the DOGDAZ of Summer! All we want to do is snooze inside the airconditioned house. Sofie won’t go outside half the time because she does not like the heat (but she does love to swim). Louise thinks maybe the front door exits to a cooler place than the back, so she is always trying a different exit.
It looks like a normal day outside until Mom opens the door. Then…. blast! Heat comes at us like no tomorrow (what does that mean?). You would think we live in the tropics not the mid-Atlantic. Better to stay inside with the cats.
These pictures are from 2015 but not much has changed, the gardens look about the same, the pool is blue, oh yeah, now we are older and we have to deal with Charles, the little rug rat of a dog. Is it hot where you live?

I thought I was buying a big new cube for Louise because her’s is starting to come apart. She loves her feeding cube so much. But, it is hard online for me to size things (I always get it wrong) and I ended up with this small one. Since lil’ Charlie doesn’t play with food toys, I gave it to Sofie, who adores it!
