6.30.12 Two Dogs: One Spoon

5.11.12 “Who Me?”

Nine has decided that since the dogs get to go in the back yard out the sliding door, he should be able to follow. So he hides behind the TV that is next to the slider and waits for the moment when someone opens the door and maybe does not see him escape. When he gets caught trying to sneak out he gives me that “Who me?” look. You know the one; when your animal has done something but they think the stupid human would never catch on to the game that they are trying to play on you. “I’m so cute, I would never try something like that Mom.” Poor Nine, life is just so hard when you have to follow the rules.

4.27.12 Stella: Adore Her
Stella is turning out to be one beautiful little kitty cat. She, unlike her adopted brother Nine, is quiet and demure. I rarely see her except when she is raiding the fountain at the top of the stairs for rocks, and then throwing them down to Nine at the bottom of the steps. Maybe, since she is only about 9 months old, she has not come into her major mischief stage yet, or maybe, she is so over shadowed by Nine’s crazy antics that she seems mild in comparison. I adore Stella! She is not a real cuddle cat yet, but I try to hold her a little every day in the hopes that she may find it enjoyable someday. I have noted that she likes certain people though. Last weekend when my sister visited, I noticed Stella sitting next to Aunt B and actually holding her arm with her paws (she never does that to me :-(… but I do usually have 2 crazy dogs and at least 1 cat on me at all times… I wonder if that has anything to do with it?).

4.15.12 Headline News: Dog Breaks Cat Out Of Jail

Nine and Sofie being lovey dovey
Nine, the kitten, thinks he is another dog in this house. He wants to be wherever Sofie is. He runs more with the dogs than the cats. It is really cute how attached he is to Sofie, and she him. I have always had certain cats that really liked the dogs (Kitty loved Squash E), but never to this extent. I really need to be careful because Nine tries to go on walks with the dogs and me, and he always is at the doors watching them.
Cats do not go outside in my house. It is to dangerous a world in the street and I do not have the energy to deal with them getting killed or just plan hurt. But Nine…. he just really does not like being away from Sofie.

Sofie teaching Nine how to escape
So she decided to eat a hole in the screen so that he could get out of jail.
And, off they went.
Stella, the baby kitty, did not even try to follow. She knows the rules. Nine and Sofie, on the other hand, are my two trouble makers.

4.8.12 Can you relate?
My daughter has taught Nine, the kitten, how to sit in her arms like on a perch. He likes to be with her and sit there for a long, long time. I think it is funny the relationship that each of the humans in the house have with each of the animals, and how they feel it is special to them. And it is. Everyone creates their own kind of bond – human to human – animal to animal – and animal to human. When you have a multi-species household, you learn that everyone and everything has their order in the pack and a particular relationship. Somehow, I find it interesting how the animals know the younger humans (even if adult size) from the older humans (who sometimes are smaller than the younger humans). Is it based on energy, inflection of tone, personal presence? To the animals around here, I am the food source. If nothing else, they like me because I am the primary opener of cans, boxes, and bags. Hey, we all must have our purpose in life. (Oh yah, I am also the maker of rules, the teacher of lessons, the thrower of toys, the giver of medicine, and the major cuddler and tummy tickler – which also has something to do with the relationships I guess.) Every relationship is special and each of my animals, and humans, mean something different and wonderful. Just another DogDaz morning at the zoo. ❤
