Monday Mischief: Snowy Owl Mischief in Maryland
I belong to this group for Maryland Bird Watchers and one of the members. Wendy Luther Dickey, took this great shot this weekend.
She said “After several trips..to no avail..we finally got our Snowy…we saw 4 this weekend … but this was by FAR my favorite pic..I won’t torture you with my hundreds that I took ..this one was playing peek a boo with us.”

She looks sweet grooming her chick, but don’t mess with mom’s nest: Ural owls are aggressively territorial. “I’ve made an ‘agreement’ with the females that the price to band and measure one nestling is six hard punches on the head,” says Finnish ornithologist Pertti Saurola.
