Charles is a happy sort. He really is enjoying that Mom has to work lying down, so he gets to snuggle up close and help her type. Small pleasures.

Mom has a boo boo on her foot (a plate and 5 screws). She is not allowed to put any weight on it for 2 weeks and then she has to wear this cast boot for another 6 weeks (if she heals well). We think it is fun that she has to stay in bed all day. We have been fighting over who helps her the most. Louise and Sofie are away at Sonya’s Dog Farm until Mom can put her foot on the floor again. Mom is sad because she misses her big dogs, but we don’t. The house is now owned by us little critters only! We cats like that there is no Sofie chasing us down the hall. But, Charles doesn’t get any walks, just out in the yard, and is starting to look a bit portly. And, Nine seems afraid of the boot and hides under the bed.
Mom says we are a big help and make her smile. I think she is ready to be done with this cast thing already.

Charles has been at the Zoo for 4 months now. You would think he’s been here his whole 8 1/2 years. He has made it clear that he is home and we are committed to being there for him for the rest of his days. Charles had at least 4 different homes in his life and has a bite history. He definitely suffers from ‘little dog’ syndrome. I am wondering, however, if he might have trouble seeing (I notice cataracts) and could that be driving some of his ‘nippy’ behavior? He is teaching all of us ‘little dog’ ways and we are teaching him how to run with the pack. He makes us all smile (well, except maybe Sofie, who thinks he is a pest). I never really thought about adding a small dog to the pack, that level was reserved for cats, but Charlie is definitely growing on me.

We love the pink snow when it falls. It looks like the white stuff put it isn’t cold. We don’t know if Charles ever saw pink snow before because he tried to eat it. Pink snow makes us happy. Do you have pink snow? This is our friend Amy’s yard (she’s a yellow lab). She has lots of trees that line her drive. We only have one cherry tree and it is little and get’s white flowers, not pink. Pink snow is slippery and Mommy worries that we are going to slip. Mommy always worries.

Charles is lying pretty close to Louise, which means she must really like him. She doesn’t usually like any of the other animals too close for more than a few moments. On the other hand, if she could crawl into my lap and stay there all day, she would.

Mom is away on a business trip, so we are reposting one of our favorite Caturday’s from years gone by. Hope you enjoy.
I was trying to go to sleep last night and the kitties discovered a Cranefly over my bed.
They spent a good hour trying to catch it. I don’t know if they every did because I finally turned out the light.
I can not imagine a life without cats.
