This is a blog hop. I hopped it from Snoopy’s DogBlog. Check them out for more mischief.

Baby Stella is about a 1 1/2 years old now. It is hard to believe what a big beautiful girl she has become. Stella is extremely shy (now that couldn’t be because she is so overshadowed by her big brother, Nine, could it?) and likes to stick to the outer rooms. She still prefers to eat her meals alone in the cat room and not in the kitchen with everyone else (so we let her). Stella comes down to the bedroom and plays with the others for a little while in the evening. She especially likes to hide in my bathroom with all the plants that are in the big tub wintering over. I do think that she will come out more and more over time. It is hard being the youngest of 5 animals. I should know, I was the youngest of 3. Have a great day!

Sometimes I really miss Gertrude. She was a very quiet cat. She didn’t really interact with many people, or other animals for that matter, but she sure was vocal and bossy with me. It was rare that she even came out of my office, but, as you can see, it was a Sunday, and I was reading the big paper on the table, so she figured she would get up there and push me around. She was a very handy cat. Gerty would always be ‘poking’ and ‘pushing’ me with her paw. I figure that she was saying, “Mom, MOm, MOM!!!! Don’t you see me? I’m here and I want you to pay attention to me. And only me! MOM!!!! Are you listening?”
While I was away last week, K8 found this picture when she was cleaning her room and stuck it into the big picture I have of Squash E Bear next to my bed. It was so sweet to come home and be reminded of a furry love that has passed. Gertrude is gone 5 years now. Sometimes I swear I still see her scampering down the hall into my office. We don’t have any Calicos or long hairs at the moment, so it must be her. I wonder if she is seating with my Mom in heaven (Mom passed away 12 years ago this week, which is maybe why I am reminiscing). Past loves are always with me – just sometimes I feel a particular one more one day than another.

The welcome that a dog gives you when you return from a trip, whether across the world or even just across town, is something so wonderful that I could not imagine life without it. Dogs make you feel like you are the most important being in the world. ‘Mom! Mom! You are home. We are so happy to see you! Happy! Happy! Yahoo! You’re here! We love you! Love Love Love Love Love.’ You get the idea.
Cats on the other hand sure seem to show great disdain. “I don’t really care that you have returned. You are a lowly human that chose to be out of my territory for a while, and now you are back, and you will have to regain my approval to be in my space and until I am ready to show you that you have been here a sufficient amount time, I will shun you!”
I’ve got to say that I think the dogs win this one.

Mom is going to do something she has not done in 14 months, she is going to take a week off from the word blog (but continue the daily zoo pics). Don’t worry she will be back… because she loves it!.
She has a lot of business trips coming up over the next several months and wants to spend the little time she has at home cuddling and playing with us (and humans too). Maybe when she returns next week, she will do the word post every other day instead of every day (but it’s an addiction, so who knows). It is just getting really hard for her to manage family, animals, work, travel, and her other community service work, and still turn out good quality posts she says. She told me that she really wishes she had more time to read other blogs and comment on them, instead of just fast scanning and running on to the next. We know you understand. Mom is getting old and things just seem to take more time these days, we feel sorry for her.
Please don’t go far (we know that Mom can not stop blogging for more than 24 hours or she goes crazy so this will be interesting) and remember the daily pics will still be coming to you.
We’re out of here! See you soon. – Noel, The Christmas Cat.
