2.18.13 Monday Mischief: Magee, The Daycare Cat

2013-02-14_17-49-38_108 2013-02-14_17-50-08_380Magee is the Daycare Cat.  She lives at Arnold Pet Station, which is the place where the girls go for Doggie Daycare.  She is a cute tortie and was wearing a lovely bandanna for Valentine’s Day last week.  Well, I thought it was lovely but she was not impressed.  She wanted it off.  I tried to take a nice picture when I went to pick up Louise and Sofie, but Magee was up to other mischief.  What mischief are you up to today?

2.17.13 Black and White Sunday: Louise The Watchful

wpid-IMG_20130204_223451.jpg

Sometimes you just catch them in the most watchful of gazes.  We were at the school yard playing.  Something most have been in the distance but I could not tell you what it was.  Happy Sunday.

2.15.13 Follow Up Friday: Almost There

Weeks seem to fly faster and faster.  I can not believe that it is Friday already.  Mom is making good progress with her exercises and her knee rehab.  She rode a stationary bike for 10 minutes Wednesday (though she was not happy about it).  And the Physical Therapist said that maybe she can walk on the Treadmill today for a while.  She is not allowed to take us on the road yet for a walk because they are scared that she might fall, but she is getting close. We said that we would not wrap our leases around her or chase squirrels, but the Doctor said ‘no.’  We can’t wait.  We miss our walkies.  Here I am helping Mom with her exercises this week.

Lift, Mommy, Lift!

Lift, Mommy, Lift!

2.11.13 Monday Mischief: Stealing Time

It has been hard, since before xmas, to spend much time writing long posts on the blog.  It is not because I don’t want to, it is just because of time. There are many factors that vie for time in our lives.  For me, the number one time taker is the work I do to make a living. It makes sense that is the largest chunk of time, but, I wish it wasn’t.  I wish I could find more time to be with my family and friends, and, of course, with my animals. I want more time to write the blog and especially more time to read other blogs.

Reading Blogs

Noel and Mom reading Blogs

I have started looking at those things that I do that steal time.  I want to clarify that by stealing time, I mean things that do not enrich my daily experience; that don’t make my life better, or my day brighter. Time stealers are things like standing in a very long line to mail a package (I know how to avoid this one by going to a UPS mailbox store) or reading through a zillion Facebook posts (I am doing that less and less).  My life, especially my digital life, is jammed packed with information and learning to cull through it is a new age challenge.

One of my biggest hurdles lately is finding time to read all the wonderful blog posts that my many blogfriends write every day (and having time to leave comments).  I am struggling with that. Between work, and health, and family, and animals, there appears to be less and less time to read and more and more time where I MUST do other things.

So, today, “Mischief Monday,” Noel, the Christmas Cat, and I are going to be little mischievites (I made that word up) and steal back some time and read some blogs.  (Hope we don’t get caught by the time police!)

2.8.13 Follow Up Friday: Still Waiting 4 A Walk

Things have been crazy lately.  Mom has been traveling the last two weeks even though she ripped her knee. She came home on the weekend to see us, which was nice, but she still could not walk long distances.  We have been going to daycare at least every other day when she is gone.  She is coming home tonight and we understand that she has cancelled any future trips until she can get through a couple of weeks of physical therapy.  We are really going crazy without being able to walk everyday down to the river or around the neighborhood.  We know Mommy wants to walk us but it is just to hard for her now.  And it doesn’t help her that there is snow on the ground too.

We are the protectors (that is my paw there protecting Mom’s leg) – Sofie

2013-02-02_08-03-26_315

We like to lay on Mom!

Noel misses Mom a lot too when she is gone and doesn’t come out of her office much except to eat.  She doesn’t want to talk much to anyone when Mom isn’t here.    Then when Mom comes home, she wants to be close to her but us dogs are much bigger and we want Mom’s lap, so Noel just has to wait.  We know that Mom makes time for everyone when she can.  Noel is her special baby.

I think I will just sleep until Mom returns. No fun without her.

2.1.13 Follow Up Friday: MishMash

Louise headMom has been away in North Carolina all week on business, but the blog rolls on.  She has been monitoring our activities and left me, Louise, to follow-up (you didn’t think she was going to leave Sofie in charge, did you?).

First I will catch you up on Caturday: people thought that Baby Stella was really cute in her picture.  Well, she is kind of pretty… for a cat.  She doesn’t really like me and Sofie much though.  I am sure that has nothing to do with the fact that Sofie chases her down the hall all the time.

The Black and White Sunday Blog Hop got lots of nice feedback on us playing with a toy on the deck.   I try to teach Sofie the proper way to mouth a toy, but she does not listen.

For Monday Mischief, Mom did some weird witchy magic that made us change color and everyone loved it.  But don’t worry, it isn’t permanent.  We like being just the way they are.  Blonds do not have ‘more fun:’  Black dogs RULE!

tea_steaming_sm_nwmTuesday, Mom had virtual coffee with other bloggers and she thought it was a really fun thing to do.  Most people fessed up to drinking way more coffee then they should in a day, but the tea drinkers were very present too.  Did you make a coffee date with anyone because of the post?    I think that some people did actually bring their pets, but all we dogs got was water and a cookie.

By mid-week, Wednesday, we were really tired because we had been in daycare all day (that happens a lot when Mom travels).  Sofie is so tired when we get home that she can’t keep her eyes open, even to play ball.  I get even wilder than usual for about an hour when I come home from daycare and run around like a banshee until I collapse too.  (They say that I snore very loud on those nights.)

By Thursday, we shared a wonderful new award call the REALITY award.  We love to be honored with all these blog awards.  It makes us feel extra special.

Waiting for Dr. Kate

Waiting for Dr. Kate

Did we tell you that Mom made us go see Dr. Kate right before she left.  We had to get those horrible booster shots that she makes us get every year.  I was very brave and actually ended up smiling (a vet tech gave me some special cookies).  It was Sofie that had the most difficult time.  She whined and hid and did all those silly baby things she does. She was not happy when Dr Kate told Mommy that she was getting very chubby and needed to loss weight.  Mommy said that she should get a little doggie treadmill, since she can’t walk us anymore. I don’t think I would like an inside walk going no where.  Dr. Kate thinks that Sofie’s ‘Snow Nose’ comes from an allergy to plastic.  Plastic bowls, plastic toys… it could be anything.  Sofie is on a new diet:  no more food, no more toys, no more walks.  More cookies for me!!!! What do you mean you heard that I could lose a few pounds too?  No way!   Mommy will be home for the weekend and then she is goes again next, this time up north to New York.  I don’t understand why I just can’t come to work with her.  I could stay in her hotel room and bark at all the strange and unfamiliar noises that I hear in the hall.  On second thought, it is more fun to go to daycare and wait patiently for her return. 1.31.13 Thankful Thursday: I Got REALITY!

I am so thankful to receive a new award that I never saw before from Oz The Terrier.  It is called the REALITY Award.  Each letter of the award  stands for some really cool word.

reality-blog-award1

Oz, whose real name is Oscar, lives in Florida.  He looks a lot like that dog Toto from the Wizard of Oz movie, which is no accident, since it is his Mom’s favorite movie of all time.  He is a breed called a Cairn Terrier.  His favorite food is bacon, so who would not love him!  Thank you Toto Oscar Oz!

Oz in the grass Here are the rules for this award:

1) Visit and thank the blogger who nominated you – done!

2) Acknowledge that blogger on your blog and link back to them – done!

3) Answer 5 simple questions (well, I wouldn’t call them simple, but here goes…)

A) If you could change one thing, what would you change?
Louise (aka Lulu Belle):  I would change the fact that Mommy can’t walk us now because her knees don’t work.  I miss our walks really really really bad and am not happy about it.

Sofie Bear: Hummm, change?  I would change having to go to sleep in my kennel at night.  I would rather sleep right outside it: so what if I wonder and chase cats in the middle of the night.

Noel, the Christmas Cat:  I would be the only animal in Mommy’s life.

Nine, the ManCat:  I would be a dog.

Baby Stella:  I would raise Mommy’s bed an inch or two, so that it is easier to hide under.

B) If you could repeat an age, what would it be? Any year?
Well, we are a pretty young bunch, but I guess being a puppy or kitten at like 20 weeks was fun. (Noel 6-1/2, Louise 3, Sofie 2, Nine 2, Stella 1-1/2)

C) What is one thing that really scares you?
Louise:  Pretty much everything scares me, but especially strangers.

Sofie:  When Mommy gets mad and uses that BIG voice.

Noel:  People

Nine: Nothing (well maybe Louise sometimes when she growls at me).

Stella: When anything or anyone moves.

D) What is one dream you have not completed and do you think you will be able to accomplish it?
Mommy:  I always wanted to raise a hybrid breed of dog that would be a watcher and caretaker for children.  I don’t think I will get to it this time around though.

E) If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be?
Louise:  Balto (brave and fearless)

Sofie:  A golden retriever

Noel:  I only would be me, since there is no cat better in the world.

Nine:  Houdini

Stella:  Audrey Hepburn

4) Display the award on your blog somewhere – done!

5) Nominate up to 20 blogs for the award and notify them
There are so many deserving blogs, but I think I will focus on just a few REAL Winners today.

Marking Our Territory – to Eko for dealing with the silly boots

Misifusa’s Blog – keep spreading the love

Peace Love & Whiskers – for amazing introductions

My Life in Blog Years – for always hopping and hosting and having great pictures
