Monday Mischief: Another Storm

Mom says that we are in for a week of ‘boom boom boom’ storms. It was hotter than hot for many many days and now all we get is rain and boomers. Louise and I don’t like boomers (Charles doesn’t seem to care much about them). They are loud and painful and they hurt my ears.

The DogDaz Zoo is that little blue dot in the middle of all those red storm blobs.

I’m wearing my thunder shirt but it doesn’t really help anymore. It used to help me years ago, but now it is just this too tight thing that Mom makes me wear. I am still scared. Maybe Peanut’s shoes will protect me?

Is that a little tiny bit of rainbow in the sky?

Mom put a shirt on Louise because she is also scared of storms (V thinks she caught the fear from me). Louise doesn’t have one of these fancy thunder shirts like I have so Mom found an old shirt in Peanut’s giveaway pile that seems to work really well. I am not sure if it helps her any more than my thunder shirt helps me, but….

She sure does look ‘super mega foxy awesome and hot!’

What kind of mischief did you get into today?

Monday Mischief: Door vs Thunder Storm

MM 6.22.15 Thunder Storm

I never go out through the laundry room into the garage, but Grammie, who will be 90 next month, was visiting and it was pouring down rain, so I wanted to keep her dry and not make her go down the front steps of the house.  I knew a thunder storm was coming (as they tend to every day this time of year) but we wanted to go to dinner and get Grammie back to her place.  So I put on Sofie’s thunder vest, added 3 composure tablets to her dinner, feed everyone, and we all proceeded to leave.  I knew that Sofie was screaming worse than usual when I left, but what can a Petmom do?  I made sure she was in the main part of the house, not in the laundry room, and went on my way.  Obviously, since she saw me leave through the laundry room, she thought she would find me if she got in there.  She probably started by trying to fit through the cat door.  Once that was dislodged, it appears she ate a big enough hole to fit through and get to the other side.

When Peanut got home from dinner (I had to take Grammie back to her place), she found Sofie locked in the laundry room with blood all over her face.  When I got home the above is what I found.  Thank goodness I have cheap press board doors and not wood.  It seems only her gums were irritated (though there was a lot of blood).

This has been a horrible week of storms and I have tried many herbal remedies (which only seem to make her worse).  Her separation and storm anxiety appears to be escalating by the day.  I am spraying a bandana around her neck with ADAPTIL every couple of hours.  She has been getting VetriScience Composure Pro for months (to no avail).  And this week we added Min-Chex, which made her go absolutely bonkers (it basically had an antithethical effect).

I fixed the door – but I don’t know how to fix the Sofie.

Wordless Wednesday: Enough Boomers Already!

thunder

Mommy thinks that this stretchy shirt thingy will make me feel less crazy when the big boomers start outside the window. She says that there are elves in the sky rolling balls into pins and when they hit them it makes those big smashing sounds.  I am not sure that I believe her but the shirt does make me kind of sleepy.  I really only feel better when I am lying on Mommy’s feet and, of course, when they stop making all that racket.

thunder 2

And then just when the thunder stopped there was all these crack crack crack sounds from the house next door.  Mommy said that it was a silly holiday where people like to blow themselves up and shoot gun powder into the air.  Bowling elves in the sky and then crackers.  Where’s a girl to hide?  Oh, Peanut’s bed, of course, with Louise and Nine.  We were all kind of shook up.  Why don’t people do anything quietly!

7.4.14

We are speechless!  Thank you, Peanut, for saving us, and Mommy, for my new thunder shirt.

 Happy Wednesday!
