5.9.13 Thankful Thursday: Lessons From Fear
I am thankful for this incredible fur creature that I call Louise. If any one would have told me that I would have fallen for a fearful black hound/ labby abused puppy, I would not have predicted it. I was always a lighter color, longer fur type of dog person. But ever since this little 4 or 5 month old sweetness came into my world 3 years ago, she has taught me so much. Louise has taught me:
- That fear can keep you safe. It can keep you from entering into a dangerous situation. You need to listen to your gut and respect your fear and the fear of those around you.
- That it is best to keep things simple, which keeps them less scary. Like not walking in the middle of too many people all at once, which can be overwhelming.
- That small steps can be very big. For example, when Louise does not bark or cower at every human that we pass, that is a victory.
- That learning what freaks you out, and avoiding it as much as possible, can make a world of difference in the rest of your day.
- Oh yes, and that black dogs are beautiful.
I believe that people and animals and situations all come into my life for the lessons that they teach me (and I them). Thank you Lulu Belle for my lessons in being more aware of the world around me and you, for listening to my instincts more, and for being patient.

5.8.13 Wordless Wednesday: 3 Amigos
The dogs went to play with Mojo Rising, next door. They love Mojo. He is their bestest friend.
Louise loves Mojo more than any other boy dog in the world. She has played with him since she was a puppy. She smiles for him in a way that you know it is love.
Sofie tries to play Labby style, but she is just a pesky little sister and usually ends up the odd dog out.
All 3 are the best of fiends. I love to watch them play. There is something special about visiting a close friend. There is a familiarity, and easiness, that you don’t get with just anyone. Because Louise does not trust many other dogs, when she does, the playfulness is a joy to watch.
“Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. “Pooh?” he whispered.
“Yes, Piglet?”
“Nothing,” said Piglet, taking Pooh’s hand. “I just wanted to be sure of you.”

I guess that was a lot of words for a Wordless Wednesday!
