7.4.13 Thankful Thursday: America The Home of the Free
I am thankful for my freedom. For the people (and animals) that help keep me safe. For the ability to speak my mind and believe what I believe, even if it is different than what other American’s believe. Today, the 4th of July, we celebrate our independence and freedom.
Dedicated on June 10, 2006, the United States War Dogs Memorial, located guarding the gateway to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Holmdel, New Jersey, consists of a bronze statue of a kneeling Vietnam War soldier and his dog, set on a black granite base. The memorial was designed by sculptor Bruce Lindsay, Architectural Division Manager at Johnson Atelier in Mercerville, New Jersey. A graduate of Bucknell University, Lindsay’s studio is adjacent to Grounds for Sculpture, the 22-acre sculpture park on the grounds of the former New Jersey State Fair. The U.S. War Dogs Memorial, while directly representing the War Dog Teams of the Vietnam War, honors all our nation’s war dogs and their handlers – past, present and future.

I’m also thankful that Sofie’s toe is feeling better.

6.20.13 Thankful Thursday: Chchchch…Changes
I was laid off last week after 17 years with my company. If you want to understand more you can read about it on my business blog: http://thedigitalattitude.com . I tell you this because I am thankful.
I am thankful that the universe gave me many years of a good income and the ability to look forward and not dwell on the past. I have good friends and family to help me deal with the sadness and the uncertainty. Something new will come. Change is the only thing we know for sure.
And, of course, I have my furry loves who never let me down. Though life will be changing in ways that none of us can imagine right now, to the animals, I will always be their favorite human. Yes, for this, I am thankful.

6.13.13 Thankful Thursday: Gratitude, Rocks
Remember the online auction that Savannah helped Mollie & Alfie with for her very sick foster kitty, Leo. We bid on some cool Gratitude Dog Rocks and won. The real winner is Leo, though, with help to pay the vet bills. Leo has Hepatic Lipidosis disease.
Funny to win dog stones to help a cat, but it worked for me. I am thankful for all the blogfriends who do great charity to help the little creatures. And a special thank you to Linda and Hubby for taking good care of their foster, Leo.

6.11.13 Home Again, Jiggity Jig
I love to travel and last week someone ordered the most incredible Irish weather. Everyone was saying it never is this sunny and warm (65 degrees is hot for them). I spent the week in meetings, but the weekend I got down from Dublin to Blarney, Cork and Cobh by train and bus. Coming from the USA, which is a relatively new country compared to Ireland, I am humbled by the history. I got to kiss the magic stone in Blarney Castle (built in 1446), which is said to bestow the gift of eternal eloquence on those lucky few who do so. I wonder if that translates to blog writing too?
When I’m travelling I miss my animals a great deal after a few days. I am so used to walking dogs and feeding cats that the break in routine is weird. I prefer to have the dogs with me all the time if I could. I know you understand. I feel an absence of spirit when not surround by my furries. So, to make up for it I take pictures of animals I meet along the way (my smartphone died and would not charge this trip, so I missed many a cow, horse, sheep, and kitty, sorry.)
I meet these 2 beauties on the grounds of Blarney Castle, then on the way back to Dublin I meet the cutest little King Charles Spaniel on the train.
I love to travel but I love to come home. There are always the best dog kisses waiting for me from Louise and Sofie.
