Thankful Thursday: Liebster Award

We are thankful to receive a lovely Liebster Award from DoggyMom.com

liebsteraward_3lilapples

We love making new blog friends and really appreciate when someone reaches out and touches us.  Though this award is for new blogs, and we are old and have lots of great fans, we appreciate being honored.

Doggy Mom is Kathleen Crisley, Principal and Owner of Canine Catering Ltd in Christchurch New Zealand.  She is currently Doggy Mom to Daisy, a Pointer who was re-homed with her in December 2003. She started making treats for her own pups and it turned into her passion.  Thank you Kathleen and Daisy for this honor.

The award rules are as follows:

1.  Thank the person who nominated you, and link back and recognize their blog in your post.  DONE
2.  Answer the ten questions posted by the blogger who nominated you! BELOW
3.  Nominate ten other bloggers for the award.  BELOW
4.  Create ten questions for your nominees to answer. OH MY – THAT IS HARD – take a look at the thoughtful  questions DoggieMom gave me.
5.  Notify your nominees via comment.

Questions DoggyMom asked:
(My answers in Bold)
  1. Why did you establish your blog?  Mostly this blog happened because the animals were making me laugh and I wanted to be able to show others how silly they were.  After a time this became the chronicles of my many rescues: Louise (aka Lulu Belle) my fearful shy 60 lb maybe Hound/Lab (4 1/2), Sofie Bear (3 1/2), 50 lb maybe Sheltie/ ‘stubborn’ dog mix, and the house cats: Noel (the Christmas Cat – about 7), Nine (the little Man-cat – 3) and Baby Stella (2 1/2).
  2. When did you start blogging? November 2011
  3. Approximately how many hours per week do you blog? It depends.  I do at least 1 post a day (from the Zoo) which takes maybe 10 minutes (because I am saving internet images all day long from pinterest, tumblr, etc. to post later), but Saturday thru Wed, I also do a personal post about my 5, which can take 30 minutes to several hours depending on topic.  I used to post twice a day, everyday, but I can’t find the time to do that anymore.  So….  I would say 4+ hours a weeks.
  4. If you had one thing to do differently with your blog, what would it be?  I would have monetized it from the start so that all this work could buy more dog cookies.
  5. What’s one of your favourite blogs (other than your own)?  BumpyRoadtoBubba, Cupcake Speaks, Speedy Rabbit, Easy, Emma, My Three Moogies,  GuineaPigSqueak, there are just so many that I love every week.
  6. What makes that blog one of your favourites?  Each and every blogger puts there special voice into the world.  They have been a wonderful community of virtual friends that care about what they are saying and why they are saying it.
  7. Since we can’t spend all of our time online, what book are you currently reading?  The DoveKeepers
  8. Which do you prefer – pure bred or mixed breed? If you mean pet, I prefer RESCUE,  I am not a breedist, I love them regardless of sire.
  9. Do you consider yourself a dog parent or dog owner?  Well, since I adopted them, I guess I am their parent, but legally, I am their owner.  I would have to say they own me, more than I own them.  Bark Out Loud (BOL)
  10. Would you rather do a Crossword or a Suduku?  Absolutely Crossword.  Though I can do the math thing, but don’t enjoy it as much.
  11. When the weather turns cold, does your dog wear a coat?  Louise wears sweaters because she has such think fur, Sofie, only when it is frigid (more for me than her, I think).

Thankful Thursday: Liebster New Year

We are thankful to start the year off with a lovely Liebster Award from Mary at My Life With Christ.  We love making new blog friends and really appreciate when someone reaches out and touches us. Mary is a young girl who is very passionate about her love of her god, Christ, and shares it through her blog.

The award rules are as follows:

1.  Thank the person who nominated you, and link back and recognize their blog in your post.  DONE
2.  Answer the ten questions posted by the blogger who nominated you! BELOW
3.  Nominate ten other bloggers for the award. I stopped nominating folks last year because there were too many awards flooding people’s blogs and so many of us were overwhelmed by them we could not enjoy them.  I love you all and you know who you are.
4.  Create ten questions for your nominees to answer. OH MY – THAT IS HARD – take a look at the thoughtful  questions Mary gave me.
5.  Notify your nominees via comment.

1.) What do you struggle with the most? Injustice in the world.  The way that people treat each other and animals.  It is hard sometimes to watch how cruel humans are to each other and everything around them.
2.) If you had one question to ask God, what would you ask? How can I be of better service?
3.) What are you most thankful for? My ability to find the good in things.
4.) How do you best handle heated/angry situations? With compassion as best I can.
5.) What is your favorite (Christian) song/band? Why? Don’t have one but I do like Gospel music
6.)  Who is your inspiration? and why?The Dalai Lama, because he practices what he preaches.
7.) What is the best thing you have ever achieved at this time being? My best achievement is the love and respect of my family.
8.) What is your goal in life? To leave the world better than I found it.
9.) What are you most passionate about? My family and my animals (and my blogs)
10.) What did you regret doing the most? and what did you learn from it? (You can skip this if you’d like) I have few regrets.  I learn something each day from other people, the animals, the universe.  One should live in such a way that they have no regrets.

2.21.13 Thankful Thursday: Peace Love & Whiskers Shined On Us

versatileblogger1

We are Thankful today for Peace, Love, & Whiskers, an amazing blog about amazing animals.

plw

Peace, Love, & Whiskers takes extra special care of some extra special pussy cats and doggies and provides us out here in the blogosphere with wonderful interviews.  You really need to go visit.  Thank you PL&W for the great work you do in highlighting kitties and doggies  that need special care and love.  Several of the DogDaz rescues, canine, feline, and guinea, have all needed a little extra love to get through their days, but they have brought us tremendous joy.  The Muffin Man, our orange and white Tom, had heart disease his whole life (2 pills a day), and was the king of our castle.  Miss Constance Kitty was born with a crooked spine, but did great with it in her early years – until the pain got to be too much.  Squash E. Bear was a two times a day insulin diabetic, who eventually went blind, but he and I would still walk a few miles every day.  Mr. Motto, the king of Guinea Pigs, had pneumonia almost immediately upon adoption.  It was very touch and go for over a month, but he lived another 7 years. Noel, the Christmas cat, has feline Herpes but she is doing great and just turned 6 last week.   So thank you Peace, Love, & Whiskers for taking up the cause of the animals that need a little extra love.

liebsterawardPL&W bestowed upon us 2 awards; the Versatile Blogger Award and the Liebster Award.  We are honored and thankful for that too.

Since we have been very lucky to receive these awards before, we hope you don’t mind but you can find our previous responses to the questions on our Awards page.  We love all awards and appreciate them, but Mom is running out of time to get her work done, take care of the zoo, and still write the blog, so she is trying to economize where she can,

We would like to bestow on Peace, Love, & Whiskers the coveted DogDaz Pick Of The Litter Award, for all the great things you do.

pickofthelitter

You get to pick any award you would like from our Awards page – because you are our pick of the litter!
