2.21.13 Thankful Thursday: Peace Love & Whiskers Shined On Us

We are Thankful today for Peace, Love, & Whiskers, an amazing blog about amazing animals.

Peace, Love, & Whiskers takes extra special care of some extra special pussy cats and doggies and provides us out here in the blogosphere with wonderful interviews.  You really need to go visit.  Thank you PL&W for the great work you do in highlighting kitties and doggies  that need special care and love.  Several of the DogDaz rescues, canine, feline, and guinea, have all needed a little extra love to get through their days, but they have brought us tremendous joy.  The Muffin Man, our orange and white Tom, had heart disease his whole life (2 pills a day), and was the king of our castle.  Miss Constance Kitty was born with a crooked spine, but did great with it in her early years – until the pain got to be too much.  Squash E. Bear was a two times a day insulin diabetic, who eventually went blind, but he and I would still walk a few miles every day.  Mr. Motto, the king of Guinea Pigs, had pneumonia almost immediately upon adoption.  It was very touch and go for over a month, but he lived another 7 years. Noel, the Christmas cat, has feline Herpes but she is doing great and just turned 6 last week.   So thank you Peace, Love, & Whiskers for taking up the cause of the animals that need a little extra love.

3.12.13 What Did You Build Today?

nine k8 windowIt is starting to be nice enough to open the windows.  With the bathroom window open, Nine, the Mancat, decided it was the purrfect place for his afternoon siesta.  K8 caught him enjoying the moment.  It get’s harder and harder to resist taking a break and going out to see the buds on the trees and the birds busy with their nesting.  Ever day now the mailbox (which got bashed by some kid’s with a baseball bat last fall, so it does not close) has been full of nesting material.  Today, when I came back from my walk (yes WALK, today was the first time I did my full 1 miler with the girls) there was a fully complete bird’s nest in the box.  How sad, because I had to remove it and set it into the bush next to the box so that the mail carrier could deliver the mail.  I tried to close the broken door to the box so they will build elsewhere, but I am not to successful.  This is so exciting.  I love baby birds.  Good thing that my cats only see them through the windows.      

Does spring air make you sleepy?  Does it make you want to go out and build something?

SPRING IS SPRINGING!!!!!

3.11.13 Monday Mischief: Is It Spring Forward, Fall Back?

Waiting for springLouise and Sofie were waiting in the yard for spring yesterday.  Maybe it was because the clocks changed here in the United States for Day Light savings time.  

Something caught there attention beyond the fence because they were both transfixed  for a long time.  Maybe it was spring coming over the hill?

When daylight savings time changes for spring, it changes human’s mood for the better; the animals, I don’t think they really care.

3.9.13 Caturday: Noel’s Pink Bed

2013-03-06_09-37-43_891 2013-03-06_09-38-05_37Noel loves her pink bed in my office, under the window.  Its funny because there are 2 beds in the office, a red one and a pink one, but she always chose the pink.  After so many years it is her’s and I don’t think anyone, except maybe Nine (because he is stupid that way) would dare try and lie in it. (My human girls bought these beds at the pet store when we got Constance and Noel, so they have been on my desk a long time.)  When Muffy was alive he would sleep next to Noel in the red one.  I moved the red one behind my monitor and Baby Stella has seemed to taken a liking to it.  As you know, Noel is with me in the office all the time and has her spot next to me under the window.  She also likes my chair when I am not in it.  There is nothing as peaceful as a sleeping kitty,  I don’t know how I will ever work in a traditional office if I can’t take Noel with me.   

I can not imagine a life without cats.

3.8.13 Belated Noel Birthday Bash

Yesterday was Noel’s 6th birthday.  Mommy was so busy saying thank you to the Three Moggies for the Liebster Award that she forgot to throw a party on-line for Noey (Mom’s nickname for her) until she was already writing the blog.  But Noel deserves a special day all her own; because she is a special cat.  If you are new to DogDaz please go back and check out some history of Noel, the Christmas Cat.  You can read about her very difficult sickly start in Noel’s Story: Near Death to ALpha in 5 Years or see her blogging skills in Dear Reader: Question from Noel.  You could also search our blog using the key word: “Noel,” and then you will see her in a lot of stories.

3.7.13 Thankful Thursday: Thanks 3Moggies

Three of my favorite blog cats, Oscar, Henry, and Archie, were so kind to bestow upon us an award called the Liebster Award.  If you do not know them yet (which I think is almost impossible for anyone following kitty blogs) check in on them at: My Three Moggies.

The Moogies asked us the following questions to qualify for the Liebster Award and Noel, the Christmas Cat, is going to answer for the zoo, since she is the oldest and, of course, a cat:

1 – Out of the three Moggies which is your favourite?  Archie, because he is almost all white, like me.

2 – What is your favourite treat?  Roasted chicken

3 – If you was not the animal you are now what would you have liked to have been? A white tiger

4 – Prefer cats or dogs? Now that is a silly question: Cats Rule – Dogs Drool

5 – Who is your super hero? Simon’s Cat

6 – Do you get the opportunity to sleep with humans? I could, but the babies are on Mom’s bed, Nine and Stella, so I tend to stay in the hall and watch over everyone.  The goofy dogs are in their kennels, thank goodness.  I wake Mom up sometimes but that is very rare.

7 – How old are you? I am 6 years old today (according to my adoption records)

8 – What is an average day for you? Sleep, eat breakfast in my special spot, sleep, bother Mommy (like I am doing right now in front of the computer screen so that she can not see what she is typing), sleep some more in the office with Mommy while she works, eat dinner in my special spot, sit with Mommy and watch TV, sleep, have a before bed snack on the kitchen floor after the dogs go to bed, sleep in the hall outside Mommy’s room to make sure that everyone is safe.  

9 – Are you a clean animal? White cats are impeccably clean!

10 – What are you having for dinner tonight? Some Wellness dry, mixed with some Friskies Wet and water.
