2.1.13 Follow Up Friday: MishMash
Mom has been away in North Carolina all week on business, but the blog rolls on. She has been monitoring our activities and left me, Louise, to follow-up (you didn’t think she was going to leave Sofie in charge, did you?).
First I will catch you up on Caturday: people thought that Baby Stella was really cute in her picture. Well, she is kind of pretty… for a cat. She doesn’t really like me and Sofie much though. I am sure that has nothing to do with the fact that Sofie chases her down the hall all the time.
The Black and White Sunday Blog Hop got lots of nice feedback on us playing with a toy on the deck. I try to teach Sofie the proper way to mouth a toy, but she does not listen.
For Monday Mischief, Mom did some weird witchy magic that made us change color and everyone loved it. But don’t worry, it isn’t permanent. We like being just the way they are. Blonds do not have ‘more fun:’ Black dogs RULE!
Tuesday, Mom had virtual coffee with other bloggers and she thought it was a really fun thing to do. Most people fessed up to drinking way more coffee then they should in a day, but the tea drinkers were very present too. Did you make a coffee date with anyone because of the post? I think that some people did actually bring their pets, but all we dogs got was water and a cookie.
By mid-week, Wednesday, we were really tired because we had been in daycare all day (that happens a lot when Mom travels). Sofie is so tired when we get home that she can’t keep her eyes open, even to play ball. I get even wilder than usual for about an hour when I come home from daycare and run around like a banshee until I collapse too. (They say that I snore very loud on those nights.)
By Thursday, we shared a wonderful new award call the REALITY award. We love to be honored with all these blog awards. It makes us feel extra special.
Did we tell you that Mom made us go see Dr. Kate right before she left. We had to get those horrible booster shots that she makes us get every year. I was very brave and actually ended up smiling (a vet tech gave me some special cookies). It was Sofie that had the most difficult time. She whined and hid and did all those silly baby things she does. She was not happy when Dr Kate told Mommy that she was getting very chubby and needed to loss weight. Mommy said that she should get a little doggie treadmill, since she can’t walk us anymore. I don’t think I would like an inside walk going no where. Dr. Kate thinks that Sofie’s ‘Snow Nose’ comes from an allergy to plastic. Plastic bowls, plastic toys… it could be anything. Sofie is on a new diet: no more food, no more toys, no more walks. More cookies for me!!!! What do you mean you heard that I could lose a few pounds too? No way! Mommy will be home for the weekend and then she is goes again next, this time up north to New York. I don’t understand why I just can’t come to work with her. I could stay in her hotel room and bark at all the strange and unfamiliar noises that I hear in the hall. On second thought, it is more fun to go to daycare and wait patiently for her return. Follow Up Friday is part of the blog hop hosted by Heart Like A Dog. Check out the other blog hoppers:

1.31.13 Thankful Thursday: I Got REALITY!
I am so thankful to receive a new award that I never saw before from Oz The Terrier. It is called the REALITY Award. Each letter of the award stands for some really cool word.
Oz, whose real name is Oscar, lives in Florida. He looks a lot like that dog Toto from the Wizard of Oz movie, which is no accident, since it is his Mom’s favorite movie of all time. He is a breed called a Cairn Terrier. His favorite food is bacon, so who would not love him! Thank you Toto Oscar Oz!
Here are the rules for this award:
1) Visit and thank the blogger who nominated you – done!
2) Acknowledge that blogger on your blog and link back to them – done!
3) Answer 5 simple questions (well, I wouldn’t call them simple, but here goes…)
A) If you could change one thing, what would you change?
Louise (aka Lulu Belle): I would change the fact that Mommy can’t walk us now because her knees don’t work. I miss our walks really really really bad and am not happy about it.
Sofie Bear: Hummm, change? I would change having to go to sleep in my kennel at night. I would rather sleep right outside it: so what if I wonder and chase cats in the middle of the night.
Noel, the Christmas Cat: I would be the only animal in Mommy’s life.
Nine, the ManCat: I would be a dog.
Baby Stella: I would raise Mommy’s bed an inch or two, so that it is easier to hide under.
B) If you could repeat an age, what would it be? Any year?
Well, we are a pretty young bunch, but I guess being a puppy or kitten at like 20 weeks was fun. (Noel 6-1/2, Louise 3, Sofie 2, Nine 2, Stella 1-1/2)
C) What is one thing that really scares you?
Louise: Pretty much everything scares me, but especially strangers.
Sofie: When Mommy gets mad and uses that BIG voice.
Noel: People
Nine: Nothing (well maybe Louise sometimes when she growls at me).
Stella: When anything or anyone moves.
D) What is one dream you have not completed and do you think you will be able to accomplish it?
Mommy: I always wanted to raise a hybrid breed of dog that would be a watcher and caretaker for children. I don’t think I will get to it this time around though.
E) If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be?
Louise: Balto (brave and fearless)
Sofie: A golden retriever
Noel: I only would be me, since there is no cat better in the world.
Nine: Houdini
Stella: Audrey Hepburn
4) Display the award on your blog somewhere – done!
5) Nominate up to 20 blogs for the award and notify them
There are so many deserving blogs, but I think I will focus on just a few REAL Winners today.
– Marking Our Territory – to Eko for dealing with the silly boots
– Misifusa’s Blog – keep spreading the love
– Peace Love & Whiskers – for amazing introductions
– My Life in Blog Years – for always hopping and hosting and having great pictures

1.29.13 Coffee’s On, Come On Over
“I love the smell of coffee brewing. A hot cup with tons of sugar and equal portions of heavy cream or one of coffee mate’s flavour. Yum Sigh*”
Worldly Winds invited us for coffee – is that not the sweetest thing? I LOVE coffee; the dogs, not so much. What a fun new thing to do in cyberspace. Thanks Alexandra.
1) How many cups of coffee per day? I hate to admit it but it is about 3 or 4 at the moment. I drink regular at about 6:30 AM and make a second cup from the same grounds at about 8 or 9. In the afternoon, I have a cup of decaf. In the evening I try to switch to decaf tea (Constant Comment is my fav) but sometimes just want decaf coffee to go with my gluten free cookie.
2) What is your favourite caffeine delivery system? My single cup Keurig
3) What was your best cup of coffee? Cappuccino in Venice, Italy
4) What was your worst cup of coffee? Old restuarant dregs (I always make them brew a new pot)
5) What does your favourite mug say? It is red with a giant blue M&M character on it. Before that was one that my daughter made me in some art class when she was little, no words just color, but some cat knocked it off the counter (or at least that is what the dogs told me).
6) How do you take your coffee? Non-dairy Hazelnut creamer. Or regular non-dairy creamer with 1 sweet n’ low
7) When was your first cup? My mother made the worst coffee in the world and I thought all coffee was those little crystals that came from a jar with hot water. So I did not start drinking coffee until college, and even then, I preferred herbal teas. I really got into coffee big time about 5 years ago.
8) Have you ever gone on a coffee tea date? How cute is that. I do drink Coffee when I am on a date with my spouse but V doesn’t drink either tea or coffee, only Pepsi..
I shall now invite a few friends for a tea/coffee date – please bring your pets if you have any. (I think this may be the first non-animal related post that I have ever done. Wow!) I prefer small crowds, but feel free to invite more people when you have your own dates.
1. Vicki of This Abundantly Delicious Life
2. Genevieve, Cupcake‘s Mom
3. Mumma to Poppy Grace (Bumpyroadtobubba)
4. Julie of jmgoyner, wings and things.
You are people that I would really like to sit down with and get to know. Thank you for your blogs.

1.25.13 Follow Up Friday: Lovies and other things
Well, it is that time of week to look back so that we can look forward.
People were very taken with the wonderful angels, Gertrude and Squash, who were present on the blog last weekend. I appreciate the nice comments, we all have our fur angels and sometimes we need them to visit more than others. I am blessed to have a whole zoo of angels that all come visit from time to time.
The dogs were so bored after their Monday Mischief that I had to break out a new Bo-Bo. All those toys and they can’t find anything to do. Amazingly (and I really should not say anything or I will jinx it), the new Bo-Bo still lives!!! But let us see what destuffing goes on tomorrow.
We really appreciated the response to Meet Mini Beaver. It was great to find out that Sofie is not alone in her attachment to a Lovey. Droppie, of AngelWhisper has a squeaky duck; Misaki has a squirrel; Doggy has his blanket, and; the humans at Animal Couriers make sure that when their dogs have a Lovey they go buy lots of extras. Cupcake on the other hand, like Louise, is fickle and will play with anything (or not).
Knee Update: The bad news is, as expected, I tore the Menisus in the left knee. But the good news is: not planning surgery immediately (I do hope that is good – right?) Since I already have trouble with the knees we are going to take the most conservative approach. The doctor shot the knee with drugs and I am going to go to Physical Therapy to try and get the muscles stronger. He said 50% of people are not bothered by the pain of a tear after about 12 weeks (that seems like a long time). We are hoping that it will stop hurting even though it will never go away. When I asked him if I would every be able to knell again, he was a little hesitant to say anything other than, “you may have limitations.” Wish me luck, folks. All I want to do is get back to my walk every day with the dogs. We are all going crazy! Maybe next month.
