Instead of Louise in black and white, I chose the infrared filter. I really like how the grass and buddleia turned white/gray.

There are really no words that can describe the horror of this event. Since I live in the Washington DC area, and come from New York, these attacks effected so many people that I know. From my cousins who were first responders at the Pentagon, my friend working inside the Pentagon when it was hit and survived, my family and friends working in Manhattan at the time of the attack, my colleague on the plane that went down in Pennsylvania and the one that perished in the second tower, I will never forget you. This is just so wrong. Yet, people around the world live with this terror everyday of their lives. I pray everyday for an end to this violence. This is not the answer to anything. But those of you reading this know that. Light a candle with me and maybe together our collective energy will do some good. Peace be with you. – Lorian

Louise stands at the edge of the deck for the longest time. I guess she is surveying her territory. On the other side of the pool is a busy bird feeder and there is always a lot of activity going on. This is a really good vantage point from which to see if the villainous squirrels are stupid enough to come into the area. I feel sorry for the squirrels in our yard because when I let the dogs out – zoom, zoom, zoom – they know just where the squirrels are going to be and they run them up the trees, fences, and power lines.
I love this shot because it really shows off Louise’s milky rear toes. The nails are white in those spots and black everywhere else.These are truly the DOGDAZ of summer.

Louise loves her alligator and Easter peep. I turned around and she was sleeping with them on the office bed. I love when they use their fluffy toys as pillows. Louise loves a good squeaker. This peep has made it past a month; to us, that is a really good squeaker.
