Black and White Sunday: Long Lazy DogDay

The sun is starting to really warm the wood on the deck. V has been preparing the deck to be stained so it is clear of furniture and everything else. We can lay down anywhere we want. V is worried that we will ruin the stain with our nails when it finally is done, but Mom says that if you can’t use stuff, then why have it. We are with Mom. Decks are made to be walked on, and laid on, and run across. Have a nice Sunday.

Caturday: Minion Nap

There is just something fun and silly about those little yellow creatures called ‘Minions.’ Though Noel has never seen them in the movies, I think she finds them very comfortable on a sunny afternoon.

I cannot imagine a life without cats!

Wordless Wednesday: Walk Me, Please!!!

Mommy has not been able to walk us for 40 days now. I am dying. Even though Amanda and Sonya and Danielle all come and take us for walks, I want MOMMY!

Please Mommy, can’t you take that cast off already and walk me. No one walks like you do.

PLEASE, I promise to be good and eat all my dinner.

Monday Mischief: Day #38 Of Helping Mom

Mom has been lying down on the job for 38 days now because of her foot surgery. She thinks that it will be 18 more days before she can sit at her desk again (she hopes, she hopes). That would be 8 weeks of having her foot in the air. We hope she is right, but we kind of like this lying down thing. We get to be in the middle of everything.

She is the luckiest Mom because she has three doggies protecting her legs from any bad things, like cats coming up on the bed to bother her.

Louise thinks she is a small dog and tries to cuddle up as tight has she can to Mommy’s good leg. It gets a little crowded.

Mom is lucky that Sofie mostly stays on the floor because, with 2 computers, 2 dogs on the bed, a leg cast, a giant leg pillow, and all her files and crossword puzzles, there is hardly room for her on this little bed.

What kind of mischief did you get into today?

Black and White Sunday: Waiting Out The Rain

We want to go out and play but it is raining so Mommy is making us wait until it stops. Louise hates to get wet and will come right back in the minute she feels the slightest raindrop. I don’t really feel it very much because I have like four layers of fur before the water gets to my skin. Charles has a really thick coat too, but he is so close to the ground that he comes in even if there is the slightest moisture, soaking wet. I guess it is better that we just wait until it passes. What are you doing this fine Sunday? – Sofie Bear

Wordless Wednesday: Garden Day

It is definitely spring and we are really enjoying being outdoors. We wish the kitties could come out into the garden with us too. Some dog (who will remain nameless) encouraged them to rip a hole in the expensive dog-nails proof screen and helped them to a moment on the deck. Mom was not happy especially since Nine’s adventure in the wild last year when he was gone for 2 days. Mini came through the hole, and being the sweet thing she is, walked up to V in the garage, wondering where all the fun was. That is how Mom found out about the new hole. This time, Nine stayed in the house. Maybe he remembered how scary the yard can be. Someone always seems to go wondering when Mom is not at her best. I guess the cats are just opportunists.

The days are getting longer and lighter. Even limpy Mom is coming out on the deck.

Have a wonderful Wednesday! – Louise, aka Lulu

DogDaz Zoo: Happy 3rd Birthday, Mini Cooper

Mini Cooper behaves more like a dog than a cat. She is extremely social and more forward than any cat that has every been at the zoo. She greets everyone at the door, tries to go for walks with the dogs, and is ever present, just like a dog. She wants to be on your lap whenever possible and loves to watch the fish in her fish tanks. She is a great little girl. Happy 3rd birthday, Mini Cooper, you bring us great joy!

DogDaz Zoo: Honor Those That Keep Us Free

This Memorial Day in the United States, please remember to honor our troops, our vets, and our fallen. Freedom costs us so much. Never take it for granted.

In loving memory of my Dad a US Army Sargeant in World War II. He never talked about it much, but was proud to serve. Came home with a bullet in his leg for the rest of his life. Dad refused the ‘Purple Heart’ medal*, as thousands of other soldiers did during that war, because he did not feel he earned it after seeing how badly wounded other’s were.

*More than a million Purple Hearts have been awarded since General Washington’s Badge of Military Merit was revived in 1932.  The unique heart-shaped decoration continues to widely recognized by Americans.  It also continues to be prized by all who receive it, probably because the award of a Purple Heart does not depend on any superior’s favor or approval.  After all, the Purple Heart is unique as an egalitarian award in what is usually thought of as a nondemocratic, hierarchical military organization, since every man or woman in uniform who sheds blood or receives a qualifying injury while defending the nation receives the Purple Heart regardless of position, rank, status, or popularity.- ArmyHistory
